What really sold this scene for me was how realistic it was when the gun shooting started. Everyone all got down simultaneously at the exact same time, assesed the threat and then proceeded to either take cover or get out of the area. I'm pretty sure the director didn't tell anyone about the gun shooting so everyone's reaction was 100% genuine and real❤

In this scene John Singleton didn't tell any of the actors that the were going to shoot a mac 10 behind the set because he wanted everyone's natural reaction. The way everyone reacted to the gunfire is because they thought they were actually being shot at. You can see someone slip and fall in the street and Ice Cube almost runs him over trying to get away.

While filming, the cast and crew were threatened by local gangsters. No one knew the bloods were going to start shooting in this scene. John Singleton told everyone else that if they hear unexpected shots, to get the hell out of there. This scene was shot once, as everyone's reaction is authentic, not acting.
