4:21 What you’re thinking of (that’s missing) is a rule of animation called “anticipation”. The transition between two actions so it doesn’t feel like it came out of nowhere. A lot of 3D indie games lack this and it makes it look much cheaper. Kinda weird it’s missing here because the duo’s animations clearly have care put into them.

its a problem of not enough people working on them. the simpsons was making so many great episodes and had enough people to make them until 2000.

I absolutely agree with the review. I bought the game thinking "c'mon it can't be this bad"... and i was only partially right. Issues are there... but are mostly 'superifcial' issues that bothers but doesn't compromise the enjoyment of the game. The control works. It feels fine to play - hitbox aside. But the levels are just too big for what is worth doing in it, and are just too many. It would be enough looking at boss fights. The mantis one is just ridicolous. And the problem is that in a more polished game I would have sailed on board of a joke-boss-fight. But when all the other one still suck (cause im sorry, the platform is fine but the boss fight all suck) you can't forgieve it in the same way. Just like the homages to old games at times sounds more like rip-off. The whole sequence in the bathroom is way too similar to Toy Story 2 where you had to flood the bathroom as well. The pirate boss level has sequences visually identical to PacMan World for PS1. These are things that in a good game would make you go "woah! what an homage to a classic". But when the games lacks so much in charm, they do sincerly looks more like a cheap copy cause they had no idea to think on their feet. And the collectables are frustrating aswell cause the 'clocks' serve no purpose apparently. What bother me the most are honestly the jibberish. I saw better Jibberish in b-plus PS1 games like 40 Winks, damn. Here they loop in a non-fluent way. Have no charm and personality. And most of all.. the cutscenes. Stuff happen just cause. It could be so easy, even a text, to explain little story, I find really silly that in every world the bosses are not even hyped. There are just statues of them, but no character even names them. The game is NOT bad by any mean. But surely it's worth playing it as a forgotten "fine" ps2 Game that we liked as kid, and when we got back to it now, started seeing all the issues wondering "did i really loved it this much? wow!". Again, we have no crystal ball, but the same time and dedication, spent on this game with an half of the worlds, but better animation, better boss fights, more variety to the challenges... would have made it a lil gem, worthy of the same price The last issue i really have.... is the amount of collectable required to the bosses that to me shows really lack of thought of understanding. You can't REQUIRE 16 Token for the first boss. You're pretending your players complete the 80% of the first two levels on the get-go. Make 12! So you're sure the player plays bothe levels. Make just 14, and then slowly rise the bar. Then you can go for 22 for the second boss, and then decide... But no. It's all messed up xD 16 at the start, then 24 (again 8 for levels), and all of a sudden it lowers so much the request that i have actively skipped the whole western world atm to see if i can reach the final boss without it. Im currently playing the ice-level world. It's ridicolus. The game should get harder and starts to retroactively require more stuff as you continue. If you keep the bar identical (and it's an underline issues of everything in clive n wrench. It feels the same from start to finish)... the games gets easier instead than consistent. Bugs Bunny Lost in Time used to require to bare minimum for the first 2 hours, and then it started pretending like the 90% of completionim by the end. It was worth nothing doing the same. It would have been just a little touch. I suppose this is the first work of these guys. They will learn and do better. But what i ended up with was sadly a passion project which showed no passion cause they overdid and the charm was left aside, not considering that budget limitation should have made rely more on the charm that a long game they coudn't fully handle.

My big problem with the game that the text is way too small

I really dislike how the enemies go flying across the level when you defeat them. If this was intentional, it literally looks more like a bug.

The big problem with this game is that it took all its notes from 25+ year old games, rather than the newer platformers that evolved and refined what those 25 year old games did.

You didn't watch the video, didn't you? The main point was the lack of polish the game had, it's not a skill issue.

I was never excited for this one.I particuarly hated the poor art direction. it had no aim. It's like every single aspect was made on the spot with zero thought on the composition. It tries to look like Banjo Kazooie, but it ends up looking like a very early demo of Grabbed by the Ghoulies. The lighting also leaves a lot to be desired... it hast that cheap feel to it. Doesn't remind me of retro n64 games, but rather gcn shovelware.

Would you say that it's better or worse than Yooka-Laylee? I feel like this is doing that same thing again, but the footage makes it look worse
