I have neither heard nor felt such perfection, devotion and inspiration all at the same time. This woman and her voice is a boon towards peace, truth, and harmony to the universe.

True Sir.. Indian classical music both Carnatic and Hindustani have power to spread peace around the world. This is divine and Gods own language I suppose. So powerful , even hardcore criminals can melt. After you tube and listening to high quality Indian classical music , I have completely stopped listening to present day film music which is simply garbage.

The composer of this masterpiece is the illustrious Dr. V. Raghavan - most brilliant Sanskrit scholar of the 20th century - and has every attribute of Maha Periyava worked beautifully into this song. He also chose the raga and worked with Vidwan B. Krishnamurthy to record the original version much earlier than this rendering by MS.

I have been addicted to this song for many months now. Can't stop listening to it. Several aspects of Maha Periyava has been conveyed so succinctly with the only language that is capable of doing so - Sanskrit! Is my all time favorite. ✌🏼

The Composer Dr. Venkataraman Raghavan (1908-1979) was a highly respected and prolific Sanskritist and Indian musicologist, particularly focusing on Carnatic music. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan and the Sahitya Akademi Award for Sanskrit, and authored over 120 books and 1200 articles! His native place is Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu.. M S did present a class Raagalapana which was a comprehensive exposition of 'keeravani'. Lovely Sahitya Vinyasam @ 'karAbhaya mudram vihita jana bhadram' in Charanam , followed by a brief 'swarakalpana' .Pranams....

That alapana is so powerful and so rich with all the hues of the raga perfectly painted on, at the right time, in the right places. I have no words to explain the grandeur and majesty of this rendition. Marked for all future Keeravani references!

I forgot to add the stamp "Kavikokila" was the title Maha Periyava bestowed on Dr. Raghavan and Kiravani was his favorite ragam. Dr. Raghavan went through several manuscripts to perfect his composition and placed it at the feet of Maha Periyava to get his blessings before setting it to music with B. Krishnamurthy.

Amma , I am too small to comment on your rendering- I don’t have knowledge of either music or Sanskrit but only two ears to listen and a heart to respond -both are satisfied and full . My sincere salutations for this rendering Ts

If you want hindustani Aroh and Avaroh for this ragam Keeravani, it is Sa Shuddh Ri Komal Ga Shuddh Ma Pa Komal Dha Shuddh Ni Sa Avroh is the same scale in descending order

Shri Narayanan, it appears to be Roopaka talam
@aadityaranganraghavan85267 жыл бұрын
venkat Raman S. True that it appears to be Roopakam. But it would fit more aptly into Khanda Triputa. Maths behind it: Khanda Triputa has 9 beats ( Aksharas) of 4 counts ( Matras). Therefore total matras = 9×4=36 Roopakam has 3 aksharas of 4 matras. Hence, totally 12 matras. 12×3=36. Hence 3 cycles of Roopakam will be one cycle of Khanda Triputa.
