Fun fact about that beginning scene: Ripley’s village got attacked by the Assembly, a group of wizards that has governmental influence in one of the neighbouring continents. Delilah Briarwood was a part of that group, before being kicked out for being too evil. Yes you read that right. The group that casually disintegrates villagers kicked the necromancer Delilah briarwood for being too evil

As well as her Aramente to become The Voice of the Tempest/ becoming an Archdruid means she’ll age a year for every ten years she lives added with the fact that she’s a half elf and they can already live for close to 250 years naturally means Keyleth could live for close to 2,500 years if she doesn’t end up biting it in battle down the road so yeah she’ll outlive everyone in the party by a wide margin thus Vaxs hesitation to be with her and be essentially a blip in the timeline of her life that would cause her pain for hundreds of years

Yeah, when Keyleth becomes a level 20 (max) druid, she gets an ability that extends her lifespan tenfold so since she's a half elf, she'll live about 1800 years, far outliving every other member of Vox Machina even if they all lived long full lives.

It's not really her species, but her class. Biologically speaking, she's a half-elf just like Vex and Vax and would otherwise live the same length as them. Except, as a druid, once she approaches her full power (technically, in game terms, at level 17), she starts aging only one year for every 10 years that pass. She reaches that age-slowing point in the next few years, which means, since she's got about 150 years left of her natural lifespan as a half-elf, she'll live for another 1500 years or so.

To answer Sheera’s question: Vex and Vax are half elves, meaning they’ll live to be at least 180. Grog is a Goliath which have the same lifespans as humans. Pike and Scanlan are gnomes which can live from 350 to 500 years, both are already in their 60s I believe. Keyleth is also a half elf but being a Druid means she’ll age 10 times slower than normal. That’s what her vision means: she’ll outlive the rest of Vox Machina.

The opening bit of Ripley's backstory also is a bit of a teaser for the Mighty Nein show about critical role's campaign 2, wonder if they knew that was greenlit before the episode started production. Also yes: Vex, Vax, and Keyleth are all half-elves, so their lifespan is much longer than humans like Percy, so outliving is definitely a consideration. It also was what the scene with Keyleth crying over the others' graves was sort of about, since if she becomes an archdruid she will age much slower, which combined with being a half-elf, means she will live a VERY long time past the rest of the party.

It's not exactly that, she's a half elf, the same as vex and vax, but the difference with her specifically is that she's destined to become an Arch Druid, which means that she'll live for several thousand years, long after the rest have passed on. Scanlan and Pike will live the longest next to her, since gnomes can live to 500

On the topic of the vision and how long Keyleth lives. Keyleth, Vex and Vax are half elves, meaning they’d naturally live to be around 170 years. But Keyleth’s quest involves her becoming a powerful druid, which will extend her life even further. Even if they don’t die, Keyleth would naturally out live the rest of her friends by hundreds of years.

Remember, she willing was a part of the betrayal and torture of Percy's family and homeland. Whatever "good" reasoning she had was lost long ago. In Percy's situation, I would have shot her right there. Not out of personal vengance but rational reasoning understanding her nature. She is a brilliant scientist who will stop at nothing to accomplish her goals, including committing the worst atrocities. She will do it it with not a chip in her concious. That is a liability and one they do not need right now.

That ending gave me chills I haven't felt since the ending of One Punch Man Season 1. The whole episode builds up and gives you Ripley's perspective and makes you sort of empathise with her even... but she was just a horrible person until the end. The OST in this series is so on point, that song had a King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man vibe with the static-ey vocals. That "but he was gone!" synced so horrifically. Plus we sort of got faked out there, with the shock of Pike accepting the devil's advice being the main shock. This episode was just... full of twists and turns. One of the best in the season, next to the card game one.

Another level to Zerxus - in the actual game, he was a paladin. Specifically, a Paladin who didn't get power from a god. He had divine magic aaaaaall on his own. Which I think adds a dimension to what he is doing with Pike. Who knows! Maybe he's not trying to turn her evil, maybe he's just trying to get her to change her class lmao

A couple of things I noticed on like my fifth rewatch of this episode: 1) Grog's fear being the library is a funny joke, but also perfectly fits with his character arc. Of the team, he is the ONLY one who has already assessed his biggest fears and faced them (his big fears being Uncle Kevdak and his herd and hurting his friends with Craven Edge). With those fears defeated, it makes sense that the stuff left would be silly. 2) I love how Percy got the jump on Ripley by using Diplomacy (the electro shock glove). It's a fun play on words, but it speaks to Ripley's blindness that she didn't know about it or even think to ask Orthax (remember that the reason he wears it is because he rejected Orthax at the end of S1 and blew a hole through his shooting hand, something Ripley can't fathom doing). Needless to say, the campaign is very different, BUT Ripley did shoot and kill Percy in this location (the rest of VM were also there and fighting her, her minions, and Orthax, it was sick), his last words to her being "I forgive you, but I can't let you leave." It was tough. It wasn't the first PC death, but it felt like that because they couldn't even attempt to Revivify him. Matt ended the session and everyone was visibly upset, with Marisha (Keyleth) fully crying and everyone else in *distress*.

Don't know if this will count as a spoiler but Keyleth looking at the graves of all her friends is just her basically being so old that she eventually outlived all of vox machina. Not exactly all of them dying in quick succession during this story arc. IIRC, once keyleth started her aramente, she essentially will have regressed aging. Vax's vision is also definitely true but just like how all visions are not accurate per say, Vax interpreted it as all of them dying in this war despite the truth being he just saw future keyleth mourning her friends like idk, 100 maybe 200 years from now or something.

It should be noted, in the campaign, Percy wanted the opposite. He offered her henchmen double what she was paying them to just walk away, while telling Ripley: "No matter what [happens] today, I forgive you... but I cannot let you leave."
