If gus was cloned from someone who was dropped as a small child, it wouldn't technically matter cause cloning copies the genetic makeup of a person not stuff that simply happens to them in their lifetime

Plus when you're young you're more likely to SOMEHOW affect offspring of yours by hurting yourself badly, clone or not. Maybe some-one flooded the cloning chamber and Gus' brain was damaged? In fact he could have been cloned from two people with conflicting genes in their brain.
