There’s a nice Battlestar Galactica reference in the scene where the tac droid is talking to the gunships in which they reply “BY YOUR COMMAND”, which is in reference to the Cylons response to commands.

They would have won if it wasn't for Palpatine pulling the strings, the war was pretty close to a fair fight and I believe the the CIS had a good chance of winning. If they were losing poorly, Palpatine wouldn't have used Anakin to kill the Separatist leaders, he would've beat them with his Galactic Empire which would serve as good propaganda. "My new empire beat the enemy, not the old republic" CIS lost because of the Sith
