We couldn't see it at all. Talk about calm before the storm! It was dead silent and not a leaf was moving. All of a sudden we saw leaves lifting straight up. It took many homes in our area including the one two houses down from us. Nobody died. That was a miracle. It did sound exactly like a train.

Thanks for reminding us all that a destroyed building or home is more than a bunch of lumber & nails. I am truly fascinated by the complexity & power of 'mother nature', but at the same time, I am horrified & saddened when I see that someone's lifetime of memories & hard work has been obliterated in seconds by 'mother nature'. I think it's important to understand that storm chasers would much rather see highly photogenic tornadoes like this one, but that they also stay completely away from homes, businesses, and other occupied buildings. Unfortunately nobody can do anything to control 'mother nature', just warn people when they're likely in danger (which storm chasers usually do).

This is the best up close tornado video I have ever seen! How do you stay so confident being so close to that tornado? It is so unpredictable!
@vondahartsock-oneil33432 жыл бұрын
No, tornado's move in one direction, from the sw to the ne. If you are on the other side looking back at it, that's the dangerous part. Following one or staying behind it isn't. They can take a "right turn" which you see in this video. However he is behind it, so it appears as a left turn. When they take a right turn, those in the path or on the otherside watching it approach are the ones in danger. You always want to be behind the tornado. Coming from someone whose lived in tornado allly 53 yrs. Also they can stop and just churn and churn. That's what happend on I think May 8th famous tornado. It sat outside the hospital in Joplin Mo. LIke and angry beast. However if it hand't of stopped and just sat there, many more would have been killed. It gave the hospital time to move the patients. Tonadoes are truly the "finger of GOD".

@@vondahartsock-oneil3343 Wow! Thank you for the reply, I am uneducated in this area so thank you so much for that! It is good to know like you said to track the direction so you know where it is going and can avoid it and take precautions to do so!

@@vondahartsock-oneil3343 This is not even close to true lmao, tornadoes can literally do a 180 and have in the past. Storm occlusion is real, and you can't count on a tornado to always head NE. Don't spread misinformation that can get people killed bro.
@trashcompactorYT2 жыл бұрын
@@finderskeepers6684 It's not always true, don't listen to that person. Tornadoes do not always move one particular direction and can move very erratically. You can't predict their movement. El Reno tornado proved that to be very true when it took a sharp and sudden turn, overwhelming and killing several storm chasers.

I saw something similar to this when I was a child. I live in Indiana, and, we've had more than our fair share of violent tornadoes here. I was 9 years old and I lived next to a cornfield. One day a dark stormfront hovered by the field, but, the sun was shining on the other side of it. I stood there in my backyard and watched a tornado drop on the very edge of the cloud cover and spin out when it reached the outer edge. It did this repeatedly for several minutes until the front blew back away from us. It was the most beautiful, yet terrifying thing I'd ever seen.
