I haven't even finished watching this video and I already LOVE it. I got my first real bead weaving loom today and still need to get some more stuff before I can start. I am 56 years old and have decided to learn how to do this since I have always wanted to do it. I am gonna bookmark these videos and watch them again whenever I need a refresher.

Thank you so much! my grandma gave me an old family native beadwork neclace which the thread broke and now ill be able to fix it! It means so much to me! Not only did you show me how to fix it, you also informed me it was made with a loom (which i will have to find) thank you so much again

@apacheflower The stop bead is also useful for maintaining tension for brick stitch, herringbone stitch and square stitch. Using the stop bead for loom work can help beginners make loom work with no knots and help them place their first row.
@elizabethjunean13 жыл бұрын
@ExecutivePagan Yes I do. I have a larger loom that had bent springs. I replaced the springs with beads on beading thread taped across each end of the loom. You just use the beads that you will use for your project, the warp spacing will be perfect. I will use that loom in the video for showing how to see if you missed a bead when looming. Teach two things at once! :)

This is so helpful. I am learnig how to do beading on a loom. This is a little different then what i am use to. Thank you for sharing this video. Much appreciated.
@elizabethjunean13 жыл бұрын
@apacheflower Yes I weave at both ends and then use tape over that and fold the ends under the work. I have also weaved each end up into the beadwork so there is nothing to fold to the back.

I'm so glad I found your video. It was clear and concise. Thank you for the wonderful instruction. You took my fear of beading on a loom away. : )
@ExecutivePagan13 жыл бұрын
This video was very helpful - thanks! I'm an absolute beginner at bead weaving (after decades of cross stitch I decided it was time to branch out :), and now I *see* how it's supposed to look... the only thing I wish you had shown is what it looks like when you check your row if you missed a bead on the return pass...

@ExecutivePagan True! Glad you were able to finish your project.

I haven't used my beading loom yet as I tend to be afraid of it. This should help a lot. I will give it a try once I can find it again.

Hi! Other than the bit of adjusting camera shots, I liked your video. I used to have a beading loom when I was a teen. Made a piece or two but really didn't get into it and got rid of the loom. Now 20 or so yrs later I bought myself another one and going to start learning again (among learning a bunch of other other crafting mediums)!!! :)

@apacheflower The stop bead is to help beginners control their tension and help start the first row of beads.

@SuperMakeupstar :) Yes you can!! Good tip.

Over/under. My comment posted before I was done. So go over and under 2-3 times after each row of beads. It makes the beading alot stronger and durable. Also helps keep the whole thing a little neater looking. It takes more thread. But I think it's worth it in the end

The stop bead is like training wheels on a bike. It is to help beginners when they are learning to bead.

@elizabethjunean FYI, I finished that beading project, wound up doing it in square stitch... slower, but definitely more portable!
@elizabethjunean11 жыл бұрын
yes. You can take the beadwork off the loom and sew the edges together.

Excellent video. I do have a question.. Are you going to show us how to finish the necklace? Like attaching the clasp etc...
@kaiaevert12 жыл бұрын
This is a great how-to...I think I can get started just from this instructional. But can you do a video on how to complete this kind of piece...or point me to a video that already has that information? How to close it off and apply or create a loop or clasp to attach the to ends together for a necklace or bracelet? Thanks!!

@elizabethjunean hm, I will have to wait for the video to see exactly how that works, I think :) In the meantime, square stitch was pretty easy to figure out so I'm working my tiny little seed bead project off loom... thanks so much for the replies, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next video!

@elizabethjunean I understand why you do the stop bead but for some that are just learning it may be easier to tie the weaving string to the warp thread ...... just a suggestion since I have been beading since I was young (I learned from my elders) and just thought it would helpful since you don't need a stop bead .... but whatever....whatever works for you!!!

I have not been able to bead for a year because of my eyesight. I am still adjusting to bifocals. I will see if I am able to bead this weekend. Wish me luck! :) If liw illl oada N ewll load a new video showing how to finish a necklace.
@elizabethjunean13 жыл бұрын
@apacheflower I thought I had shown how to tie on the thread to start the beading on one of my earlier videos, but I will have to check. I need to make another to show how to end and start the thread while beading. But my near sighted vision has now become more far sighted, making it harder to see after beading. I was told by elders not to bead at night. They were right of course. :)

@pinkamarose The pattern in this video was just a random repeat i improvised. There are bead loom pattern books available from Amazon.com and from Fire Mountain & Gems Website. Your public library may have beading loom pattern books. You can also use cross stitch patterns for beadwork as long as they don't have half or quarter stitches. Hope that helps.
@apacheflower13 жыл бұрын
@elizabethjunean Well don't feel bad my eyesight is going to hell in a hand-basket as well.....lol....just wanted to ask do you ever weave your ends before beading and after.......for me it makes it easy to fold the the threads under when sewing on buckskin or do you tape you ends as I have seen some do? Thanks!!!!
@ExecutivePagan13 жыл бұрын
@elizabethjunean Thanks, I'll look for it! :) Do you have a recommendation for a loom that will warp close enough to fit 14/0 seed beads (of which I have a LOT)? I picked up a plastic loom at a yard sale, but after warping it up I see that was pretty obviously intended for a children's craft project, as it looks like it's scaled for pony beads... needless to say it didn't work too well with my seed beads!
