Looks great good idea on how to attach it. I have no idea about the 3D print out stuff! I replied more on your other video a bit more on where I heard about using lenses and included a link there. It is very interesting! I have done it with different trail cams and my GoPro as well for birds as well in a few bird videos. I had more luck with the GoPro set up but I have no internet where I am but if you do and can use the app to trigger the GoPro when birds are at the feeder it would be better on batteries. Trail cam solves that issue as far as batteries though! The Go Pro batteries don’t last very long. I have 3 batteries and 3 micro SD cards so just changed them out in about an hour when getting 4K video. I got tired of that pretty quickly after several days of trying but some nice video. Maybe I will give it another try sometime with a trail cam. Take care, Char 😊

I think you can glue or attach twist ties on the close-up ring and attach the twist ties to the bracket on the back of the camera or you can also use black tack or something else. I actually started recording birds at a tray feeder in 4k with an action camera (not a GoPro)! It had an internal mic and no option for an external mic so to get sound, I could not use its waterproof case. Therefore, I had to create a weather cover for it and it worked. I used its remote to trigger the camera, but if I did not trigger it often enough, the camera went to sleep. That was frustrating. I had to go back outside and turn it on and wait for the birds again. What was more dissapointing was that the internal mic was terrible! It recorded no sound or had high-pitched squealing noises. So much for making a weather cover 🙄. I am SO glad I made a close-up lens modification for my trail camera. I wonder what footage from a 4k trail camera with an close-up lens modification would look like in comparison to a 1080p trail camera? 🤔There is only one way to find out! Have a great evening! 😁

Nice. I would think you could also find a suitably sized XX-37mm step-up ring that would fit inside the circular aperture of the recessed lens casing and secure it with a bead of black-tac or a similar removable adhesive product - I've used UHU ProPower Tac putty for similar projects. Would likely be more secure than mounting on the outside of the casing and I doubt it would vignette.

Thanks! The ring I have is the smallest step-up ring I could find at the time. I have seen others using black-tac and similar putty for this setup, but I wanted to try something a little different. It has been working well for me so far. Thanks for watching and commenting! 😁

@@WildlifeWatcher20 Looks great anyway. I'd been using a Campark T100 with the Vivitar 37mm filters for close-ups - a 25-37mm step ring just fitted snugly over the lens casing. But it developed a power fault and was replaced with a T300/TC02. Unfortunately the 37mm filters won't work with the T300 because the IR motion sensor below the lens gets in the way. Eventually found a workaround using 27mm close-up filters originally designed for vintage Zeiss Contaflex film cameras. Had to modify a 25-27mm step-ring to get it to fit and applied a bead of the UHU ProPower putty to keep it in place. Works quite well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIubpYRmgZ13qq8si=xuxTZk_rezRZleUV

I have the same camera and have found that to get birds in focus I need to have camera a fair distance away and as a result birds are in focus but fairly small. I don’t suppose you are thinking of making selling the 3 d printed attachment to interested parties. Regards

I am not, but there are some other ways to attach it to the camera. Another channel, Trail Camera & Texas Wildlife, used some Black Tack (a type of putty) to attach the step-up ring to the camera. Just don't completely seal the ring to the camera or else the lens will fog up easily.
