thoroughly enjoying watching your videos. Needed to learn about macro photography as just bought an 80mm macro lens and was becoming frustrated. Now I see how your images come out, I have been given renewed confidence. Thank you so much.

Hello Sue! I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos and congratulations on your 80mm macro lens, that's awesome! It is very frustrating in the beginning, believe me, I was frustrated at first too. There is a learning curve but once you have figured some things out you will be very happy with your images. Just keep practicing and things will click into place soon. I hope to make some more videos in the future that might be helpful as well, but the best thing to do is to keep playing around with the lens and trying new things. I still take many images that do not work, but slowly I'm learning the way I like to shoot and some comfortable and reliable techniques that work for me, and everyone learns in different ways and has their own desires for how they want their images to look. Have fun out there and keep in touch, let me know how things go for you :)

a dedicated macro lens for the camera is one thing I don't have - but have everything else covered. PS. your voice is very soothing : )

Hi Noe! A macro lens can also be a great portrait lens :) I've used a 60mm macro and this one too for portraits and always love the results! Not sure about street photography though, but maybe hehe!

Slowly getting to view all your videos and so far love each one. I love your macro shots and you do hand held. That inspires me. I do not yet have a dedicated macro so I either use my 18-55 or 18-135 and get decent results. I use a Fuji x-t20.

Nice one Liesl. It seems like it's been awhile since you've uploaded a vlog but maybe I just missed it. Another nice walk through the garden. You have a very good eye for picking out details and making them into interesting photos. I have an inexpensive clip on phone lens somewhere and you've inspired me to find and use it. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Jeff

Thanks, Jeff! It has been a while, I uploaded two videos yesterday and hopefully I’ll have another one ready tonight or tomorrow and maybe another one or two next week :) I think (although I know a camera has better quality) I still have the most fun taking pictures with my phone! It just feels like something special when you can manage to get a macro shot in focus on the phone, ha! Thanks so much for watching, have a great weekend! :)

Fantastic shots - I loved the blue flower shot with the moment macro best. Must be great to have focus peaking. My handheld macro is so unsteady, I feel myself leaning backwards and forwards:) The Robin? Also looked great, I like that wider environment for birds too
@LieslHuddleston5 жыл бұрын
Yes, focus peaking would be great on the big camera, I think the benefit is with a tripod for sure, because any slight movement with macro and the focus peaking becomes useless. I need to play with that app some more and figure out how to lock the focus, that would be helpful! Yes, that is an American Robin, they are one of the most common birds around here, I enjoy watching them, especially when they pull worms up out of the ground.

Another lovely clip Liesl, it sure does make for beautiful dreamy images phones do a good quick job but I don’t think you can’t beat a good macro lens on a real camera
@LieslHuddleston5 жыл бұрын
True, it took me a long time to see the differences because I was so enthralled with the images I would get on my phone. Since I've done the comparisons with the same subjects, my eyes have been opened ha! Thank you for your comments today!

Me too actually, I adore the depth of field when it's used correctly like the photos here, amazing photos, also the photos with the phone, but I don't know 😄 for me the phone is out of my consideration in terms of photography, I still find the photos with the camera more clear in terms of the ISO and noise especially when zooming 1:1 in Lightroom for example. Thanks for showing us these beautiful images 🌹❤️

Yes, you're right, overall the quality from a camera is much better than with the phone 👍 Thanks for the nice comments today! 🙂

Liesl, do you shoot IPhone on auto or manual?
@LieslHuddleston4 жыл бұрын
Hi, LuAnn :) I shoot with the native camera app on auto settings 99% of the time, just because it does the job well most of the time and I can work quickly and move around a lot.
