I really want the tv series . I have very vague memories of it I was around 5 when it came out.

Great job giving the Tim Burton “reimagining” its proper due. I remember the hype surrounding the movie prior to the theatrical release with the studio stating that this version was actually truer to the original Pierre Boulle book. After viewing the movie there is no doubt in my mind that Rod Serling was the true original genius of the franchise!

The way you handled the Burton movie was absolutely priceless. I have to say tho that I really liked Tim Roth as General Thade. Thought he was a great villain. Oh, and I liked Elfman’s opening theme very much. Bout it...

The original movie is one of my fav films of all time. I grew up watching that several times for the first 19 years of my life (we recorded it on VHS when they showed it on tv). But it was only in 1996 that I knew that they had sequels, when I watched about 3/4 of Beneath the PoTA. Still it was 2011 when I got all 5 original films on dvd and watched them in 5 days. I loved the new trilogy and can bear the Tim Burton version (loved the production, not the movie itself, wrong choice of cast). The latest film is also a truly amazing film and a fitting end to the story of Caesar.

I started with the Burton movie like a lot of people my age (I'm 28 now) but for whatever reason I like the old ones the best

How did they repair the spaceship? It was destroyed in the sequel.

They fixed it and left before the planet was blown up, so it actually WASN'T destroyed. That's all the explanation we've ever had, and all we're ever gonna get!

Thanks again for doing this "Closer look" , the only set I'm missing is the animated series, not sure if I wait for a blu-ray release or just get DVD's , 20th Century Fox may never release in HD, maybe Mill Creek or Shoutfactory will pick it up.

Have you had a chance to check out the new 9 film blu ray collection for Planet of the Apes yet? If so, could you tell me if it will play on a regular blu ray player or only on a 4K blu ray player?

No, I have plans to get that set as there's nothing in it that I don't already have. As far as I know it's just a straight up repackage of previous releases. Regular Blu-rays will always play in regular Blu-ray players. Just make sure you're putting the Blu-ray disc in and not the 4K disc if you get the 4K set.
