The “If I haven’t worn it in a couple years” rule only applies if you have a minimal closet. I have pieces it may legit take me 5-6 years to get around to wearing. My rule is if I like it stays, and if I paid a lot for it…it stays! LOL! I only purge pieces that no longer fit by body or my style esthetic. But my closet is ridiculously crowded, so maybe I shouldn’t speak on this! LOL!!

Purging is so necessary, I feel like if I don’t purge I get overwhelmed with clothes I never wear! I find as time goes on, basics and neutrals have become more important to have in my closet than clothing that only matches one thing!! I can't believe you haven't worn the black Christopher John Rodgers jacket with the rainbow buttons (goes with any color!!!) or the Dries van noten blouse with the yellow beading (looks like a vintage dream!!). That blouse would look great with some high waisted, Katherine Hepburn looking trousers and mannish shoes to balance out the girliness. I see the jacket either as a suit with black pants and a jewel toned sweater, in the color of one of the buttons, or over a sweater dress. Dang! I'm gonna have to look up those pieces now. I love Lily Silk and just got in a couple of orders last week. Over the years, it has been the 100% turtleneck sweater, Pure Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater ($169). I have a stack of them and got most of them for $99. I have them in various colors as one never knows what colors will be either discontinued or added. But, I also have other Lily Silk pieces and another sweater that's really good is the Tarra Striped Sweater in Merino Wool. As for really going through one's wardrobe, I usually take inventory around every 6 months. But, I take photos of a lot of items and store them in different files on my MacBook Air. So, I know where everything is and also where key clothing pieces, footwear, and also handbags are stored. Greetings from Los Angeles

Yeah, this is a reminder it that time to complete closet transitioning to current season, because not doing that can cause me to purchase things that I already have plenty of and I never had the income for that. The difference between an influencer and a every person's purchase is that influencers buy with trends/or gifted and an everyday person should only buy what they would wear even if no one else is doing it because it fits your spirit. I don't purge retailed purchase items because for me to have bought it I consider it going to be part of my forever wardrobe because I like it. I am in my 60s and I watch fashion just repeat like it in a spin cycle (thru watching movies in B/W till they became color, also watch the professional women around me in their office, evening events, physical activity, picnics, beach wear, dating, formals attire, as I grew up they were and are my biggest influencers) and I realized nothing really new it just the way it styled. That is one reason that I have fallen head over heels in love with thrifting and I don't purge. My daughter has worn a hot pink one shoulder tea length flowy evening dress that my mom wore when I was a toddler, and she gave to me where I later wore for evening event and I pull it out for my daughter and I worn it again, it here for my granddaughter to grow into, she saw it and want it. I practice the packing things away. This year because I went crazy thrifting (blaming Karen, Monroe, Jenee, Jillian, Beth all of you were thrifters when I first started watching) those pieces that work with some of the current looks, thru the past 5 years, I will be going thru those pulling out duplicates and selling some of them on the secondhand market and doing some DIY flips. My recent retirement has me looking for my second gag in life because I refuse to live out the rest of my life struggling and not enjoying what is left. So there was not a lot of pull outs from this closet (understandable) but I think from previous comments there are other spaces you have clothing, and you seem to stay on top of it. I usually get anxiety watching these types of videos, but this was pretty cool, because you showed the vulnerability being ready to actually let some items go and you talk out loud what you were thinking. And I am looking forward to seeing you make the effort to wear some of the colors that you ended up keeping seeing how you actually style it for those of us that have become uncomfortable with wearing color during the grey and depressing Fall/Winter season. I really enjoyed watching the process going through your closet. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now.
