We had a brilliant day on Clough Head and were so pleased we left it as our final Wainwright, it was a great walk with stunning views. The weather certainly helped make it even better! It has been a fantastic journey completing the Wainwrights, we have met some great people along the way and have seen parts of the Lake District we would otherwise not have seen. We have a well earned holiday to warmer climes just after Christmas, so we are looking forward to that, then we have plans to revisit some of our favourite parts of the Lake District and try out some different routes. Hi Carol Eddie. Many congratulations on completing the Wainwrights and a happy belated 60th Birthday Eddie. What another beautiful day you had for it. It’s a great route that, we did that traverse path in heavy snow earlier this year. It was quite tricky in places with the snow, we had to put our spikes on. Looks much nicer in normal conditions. Well done to you both, especially in your 60th year, a great achievement by you both and what a fantastic day to do it on as well. I will be 70 next March and hope to do my final one towards the end of May next year but still got 11 left to do yet. I think my first Wainwright was Slight Side in 1998 but only found that out about 6 months ago. I had climbed Ben Nevis two years in a row with my sons and then Mrs Metalman in 97 and 98 and got asked by two lads I worked with if I fancied climbing England’s highest Scafell Pike. We went over for a few days camping and climbing but never got to Scafell Pike but what I did not realize at the time was, we went up via Slight Side and Scafell but then called it a day. I just watched your High Rigg video a few weeks back again, as that will be my last one and it looks like it could be a Fell that all abilities could do. Merry Christmas to you both, cheers Alan

We made a decision earlier in the year to try and get the Wainwrights completed for my 60th, but didn't think we would do it. We had our banner ready and just added the date on it, the night before, when we saw the weather forcast. We cut it fine, to say the least! Hard to believe you will be 70 in March, time flies!! You have done really well getting down to 11 Wainwrights, you will get those completed, in no time! That must have been quite a surprise when you found out that you did Slight Side & Scafell instead of Scafell Pike. High Rigg is a really nice fell for your final Wainwright, and as you say, not too difficult. We enjoyed the walk along the top of the fell towards the summit. It has great views for one of the lower fells. We have a well earned holiday booked to get some warmer weather just after Christmas, so looking forward to that. Hi Dave, thanks. We had a brilliant day on Clough Head, it was a cracking walk with superb views. We have had some fantastic days on the fells while doing the Wainwrights and as you have said, memories that will stay with us forever. We have a well earned holiday to warmer climes to look forward to, just after Christmas and then we will be looking forward to going back to the Lakes to visit some of our favourites again and try out some different routes. We also fancy doing some walks in Scotland and possibly the Peak District aswell as more walks in our home county of Northumberland. Congratulations to you both. Many wonderful days filled with great memories. Which ones stand out as your favourites ? My own Wainwright journey has 25 to go over 11 walks which I'll re-commence with next Summer. My final one will be Pike O'Stickle. Though 'final' is hopefully the wrong word as I would like to keep on going as long as I can & re-visit many over again. My favs so far are Helvellyn ( I've visited this fell more than any other so it must have some appeal !). Other ones I loved particularly are Brock Crags & Wandope ( probably not on many people's lists but I love the lush turf & sitting looking down to Sail beck far below.) Happy 60th birthday too. You & Carol deserve a bottle of sparkly for all your efforts.

Hi Michael, thanks. Yes you are right we have some great memories that will stay with us for a long time! We had a brilliant day for our final Wainwright and it made it a double celebration with my 60th Birthday the following day. Some of our favourites are Great Gable, Blencathra, Helvellyn & Pillar. I love that view from Brock Crags looking over to Brothers Water. Walla Crag holds a special place in our hearts as it was our first ever Wainwright. We were blown away by the views from Walla Crag and were hooked from that day onwards! You haven't got many to go now, 25 over 11 walks, you will get them completed in no time. Hi Stuart, thanks. Good to hear from you ( miss your videos!) Yes we certainly had a celebratory hug as we reached the trig point. It was a fantastic feeling when we reached the summit, realising what we had achieved. I think we have been very lucky with the weather or the mountain gods have been very kind to us, ha! I am still getting to grips with the drone, it takes some getting used to! We are off to warmer climes for a well earned holiday in a couple of weeks time, then it will be back on the fells again to visit some of our favourite fells and walks. The Wainwright journey has been fantastic and we have memories to last the rest of our lives. We are off on a Caribbean Cruise in January to get some warm weather, so really looking forward to that.
