What I love most about Life after Death is how multifaceted it is. It has the radio hits like Hypnotize, Mo Money Mo Problems and Love The Dough, The street anthems like Kick in the door and Ten Crack Commandments, and then it has the hyper cinematic tracks like Somebody's gotta die and N***** Bleed which I feel like no rapper besides Biggie have ever been able to replicate.

N****s Bleed is Biggie's crown moment, imo. Of course, he had bigger hits, but this cut shows how technical, precise, & intricate his rhyming could get & how easy he could do it. It's a masterclass in skill & natural ability. The only other song that comes close, imo, is halftime by Nas.

I know. I listened to Life After Death for the first time a couple months ago or so and I felt a weird, dark vibe. I clicked on this video and felt a bad vibe again. I had to pause it, plead the Blood of Jesus, and read some comments.

This album would come out 16 days after he was murdered. according to Jean deal, biggie was supposed to fly to the UK that night, but he wanted to stay in Los Angeles for the after party. Jean deal told him not to go, but he did anyway.

Yes he was going to be interviewed by Richard Blackwood hes a black British presenter. He actually spoke about it in an interview and how he was preparing and hyped to meet biggie and then as he’s on the set everyone’s distraught and he wondered why and they said that biggie died but he thought it was a joke since there was no websites and stuff like today then saw it on the news.

@@123theprodigy5 Puff's top shooter Wolf didn't even go out there. Wolf told Puff he didn't have enough security going out there & Puff shrugged it off. Gene Deal echoed those same sentiments to Puff after his convo w Wolf. Puff was too arrogant when out there, he was running around too freely. Unless it was a video, promo, or photo shoot BIG was barely out in LA. Only other times BIG went out while there was to a tattoo parlor or restaurant near his hotel. Soul Train weekend was the first time ppl saw BIG out like that. Gene Deal still lives w that guilt of not telling BIG's driver to run the light like he told Puff's driver too.

I heard an old Pac interview where he said he had a concept for his album and Biggie stole his idea and did "Life After Death". So, Pac had to scrap his idea and do another album. @ no, that is still incorrect, he did freestyle from verses off his album Life After Death, the majority of that freestyle was from “You’re Nobody, Till Somebody Kills You” the last track on the 2nd disc, which he was talking about his own mortality, that is not what got him killed, that is more AI generated revisionist hip hop bs, him being in Los Angeles during that heated period driving around in drop top cars with girls and people thinking you was involved in this man’s death (2Pac) was his downfall, he got too comfortable and didn’t recognize LA gang politics

To me Sky's The Limit and My Downfall are the 2 of the best songs, ever. I recall seeing Bobby Caldwell in concert and he said Tupac and Biggie sampled 2 of his songs. I bought Life After Death the week it hit stores yet I forgot that Skys The Limit was a Bobby Caldwell sample. Somebody Got To Die and Last Day were also 2 of my favorites. It's unfortunate that Nas and Big didnt collab on the two recording sessions they had. Its also unfortunate that Pac and Big didnt get the chance to make a truce. Puff did take some instrumentals from Havoc. That line regarding a bridge tripped me out. I remember Dogg Pound's New York New York had the same beat as Big's St Ides commercial.

Majesty in a interview w InfoMinds talked about how when he walked in while BIG was recording the first verse & upon BIG seeing him & E-Money Bags walk in the room he dropped the lines "Word to Stretch I bet they pussy". It's funny I've never seen the supposed full title on anything. It makes me wonder if it was even real. I remember Life After Death that year. I was nine years old at the auditorium of my school in January 1997. I'm sitting there and this was the first time I ever heard the Stevie Wonder Happy Birthday song. One of my classmates had a VIBE or maybe the latest The Source issue and I saw an ad for Life After Death. It most likely had the March 25th release date on there. I was HYPED!! It was the first album I ever anticipated and wanted EVER. In my mind, I was gonna try to convince my mother to buy it for me. I counted down the days to its release. Early that year is when I really started getting into MTV. I'm watching MTV News one day and I believe it was Serena Altschul saying The Notorious B.I.G. is going to be in California for a MONTH!! My mouth just froze because I knew this wasn't good. I was just a kid but I was very much aware of what the climate was and what that news meant. I was legitimately terrified for him. I was relieved every single day that I didn't hear anything. Being that this was so long ago I don't remember if I saw The Soul Train Awards that year. Parts of me vaguely believes I saw it and Biggie's appearance on there. If there was ever a time to leave Los Angeles, it was right after he left that stage. This was not a hey lets go party in a city that overall hates me. Once the news broke, it just destroyed me because like all of us, we saw it coming. When I heard that I let go of the idea of asking my mom for it. I'm mad because it's like they hated you there, WHY give them that to make THEM feel like they accomplished something THERE. I HATE he took his last breath THERE. From a fan perspective, I look at it like WOW, Bad Boy had this huge promotional campaign they were going to do and 16 days before its release, he DIES. WHAT do you do NOW???? Very sad times. I wish he was around to really discuss the songs. I didn't actually hear his albums until Christmas Day 2001 and it exceeded my expectations. I LOVE both albums but Life After Death is my favorite. Most people prefer Ready but musically I loved where he was going with Life After. I think the circumstances surrounding the album kind of taints it for people. Disgruntled 2Pac fans. People hating the Bad Boy sound but whatever. I legitimately play the album straight through. Both discs and nope I am NOT from the east coast. SOUTH BABY!!!!

I was in Ohio and it came on the radio that Frank White had passed on, smh I cried I was only 12. He was my favorite from that area cuz he turned ashy into classes.Made it cool to be yourself and just had a style that was smooth as fuck. Bars for days and he’s story telling was top tier. When I got back to Philly I brought this album. Still one of my favorite albums ever. Favorite song of the album is “skys the limit” ft 112 it’s like he saying goodbye to us. Smh we miss you B.I hope u a pac are in an endless cypher together.. ahead of they time 4real

I had just gotten my first job at burger king and I would get dropped off at 4:30 am and I had to start work at 5:30am so every morning I would go behind the burger king and smoke an L while listening to this on headphones until it was time to go to work

Hearing Akinyele on “Sky’s The Limit” beat I wouldn’t think it would work. Cause Akinyele would’ve made it to some sex shit like he always do despite if he could rhyme. That beat was meant for him and not Akinyele. “Life After Death” is a very eerie album but people said it was waaay better than Ready to Die. I feel Ready to Die was better because the album wasn’t glossy. It was raw except for “Big Poppa”! “Juicy” was okay I can listen to that song but I feel that Pete Rock’s version of the beat was better. “Life After Death” I felt was too commercial though it was a good album as well. “Long Kiss Goodnight” was very dark and literally was a lyrical beating on Pac through the grave even “Drop A Gem” with Mobb Deep going at Pac. If Pac was here I would wanna know his response 😂! Whether it’s on the radio, a track or an interview 💯! Pac would’ve been tight lol!

35:35 Also DJ Clark Kent told Complex that LL Cool J, Sauce Money and Jay-Z all had the beat for the song Sky's The Limit on tape but none of them wanted it. “LL had it on a tape, Sauce had it on a tape, Jay had it on a tape. You name it. If they were around at that time. They all had heard ‘Sky’s The Limit.’ The only artist that wanted it was Akinyele. So I’m talking money with Akinyele, and the money talk is just not going right. And B.I.G. hears it, and we’re doing the Junior M.A.F.I.A. project, and he’s like, ‘Yo, I want this for my album. Clark, you gotta hold it for me.’ But I was like, ‘Hold it for you? You’re not working on a new album. This got to go.’ And I was almost at the point where Akinyele was going to get it, but he just didn’t want to pay for it the way I was supposed to be paid. And B.I.G. was like, ‘F**k that. I’ll pay you now. I need that record.’ And just that enthusiasm alone made me be like, ‘You don’t have to pay me, it’s all good. You can have it.’ So I never played it again for anyone else.”

Biggie was a star gone way too soon but can we really compare him to Pac..Biggie definitely better flow but impact of 2Pac alone beats half of Biggies work and think of all the music made songs like Keep Your Head Up Brendas Got A Baby Pain Dear Mama couldnt be pulled off by just anyone Biggie made of end up making some more world moving music but i fill his work as is aint shit on Pac work..People always wanna mention Biggie if Pac is mentioned on a list truth is if They never died..Nas was theonly one already on their level but Jay Z might not of made it..serious and i love Jay..im just saying..I wonder if No Limit would of really struck like they did and if they did would Pac be riding with them

Then let's also try not to use this introspection of album to make slight jabs at Sean Combs, no matter what people say he constructed some of the greatest hip hop and r&b songs in history, like using the words of the photographer to refer to him as "demanding" to further push the anti Diddy propaganda, people tend to forget that Puffy was in his late 20s when all this stuff was going on, he had to be assertive, especially in music business in the 1990s, it was more rougher back then with all the personalities he had to manage, dudes from the street who only know how to handle things a certain way, he had to deal with people getting into trouble, going in and out of jail, having to help pay their child support, bailing them out of tough situations etc. He was 24/7 a label head, a producer, music video director and a businessman, people who aren't ambitious as he is will see anything he does as demanding, arrogant, rude and evil, its more than that.
