What method is this? Isit called maceration or distillation-steam/water?

had you used the whole package of cloves you might have gotten two phases in the first place without the need for ether extraction. Instead of ether you could have used warm coconut oil and then used this for an antiinflammatory and fragrant ointment.

does this work with petroluem ether?
@thomasgarbe83545 ай бұрын
it does work with any solvent that is water immiscible

just for my understanding, we're extracting with a solvant, ok. but what if we keep the initial emulsion (water+eugenol=...) and let the water evaporate? would it be the same result? (apart it's probably taking much more time?). thx in advance

That just letting the water evaporate should work, if you have the time to wait.

@@BrantKedrowski thx for the answer. for sure considering a lab workflow, waiting is not an option :)

it won't work, since the oil is more volatile than water.
