it's sad that most liberals, especially people in my animation class don't acknowledge there's another negative term that Woke is, they always ask, what does the word woke even mean? to them woke means being aware of racial prejudice and discrimination, but now even the word bigot lost it's true meaning, they'll use it as an excuse to accuse you of saying things they don't agree with. it sucks not everyone one in real life acknowledges the way 'woke has a negative term to it,.

You want to prove robot theory? Film the people outside a Disney store, anytime prior to 2019. There’s no talking sense to people about Disney, the deflection used to be stupidly strong with them. Still is with many, despite the abusive corporate practices.

I'm a Floridian, and I used to go to Disney all the time. Used to. They used to have annual passes for Floridians, and my family often got them, it's about a 2 hour drive for us to get to the parks, so we used to be able to make day trips to the parks quite easily. It was really nice. Then they started increasing the prices. It was still doable, but not as good. Then they changed them more, and more, and eventually things got to a point that you need a reservation just to go into the parks, and there's no more Florida passes. Haven't been in quite a while, it's too much of a hassle now.

@@kingjamesut tragically, I doubt they will. The large groups from overseas who make "once in a lifetime" trips spend TONS of money at one time. They stay in the most expensive hotels, buy lots of tickets and merch, and are where they want to focus. Disney doesn't seem to realize how short-sighted that is. Sure, the local passholders may not spend as much on a single trip, but they're making multiple trips a year. We were consistent.

Yeah born in 1981 here and childhood was mostly watching the Disney Channel (loved DTV's music video specials), loved the movies, and my earliest memory was my mom drawing Mickey and Minnie Mouse (I was 2 or 3). Even when Disney didn't always put out the best content (like during the 2000s with their sequel craze and subpar movies), I still had faith in the company, but that started going downhill during the 2010s when they started acquiring all of these different properties and I did notice the changes to the parks and I just started to lose faith in Disney as a whole. Now I did go Disney World in December 2021 since it was a life long dream, but I did say that would be the last time I'd support Disney in any form until they went back to being the company that Walt built. Still praying it happens, but yeah I am burnt out, and it hurts saying that since I was a hardcore Disney fanatic.

Disney is not fighting Reedy Creek because they legally can not do it, unless they make admissions about management and ownership that would open them up to other legal proceeding. This is cover on other KZbin channels via Florida law and regs for Special Districts. As for Iger schmoozing to get what he wants, legally there is no way for new Board to give him what Disney lost via elimination of Reedy Creek. If anyone even tries other Special Districts, see Universal will be well placed to either sue the state or lodge complaints about unequal treatment with Florida regulators which would trigger investigations and potentially criminal inquiries Geeky needs to get over her idea that Iger is some master business man, he is literally the reason Disney is in trouble right now.

Once upon a time, our family adored and trusted Disney. We trusted their content to be child friendly. We watched their films, Disney decor was in our home and our money went for vacations to visit the parks. In return, they insulted us and our values and they mocked our concerns. They tore down cherished memories and became immoral, greedy, arrogant and out of touch- the very things that we have always despised. We’re done with them and if they only knew how much we once loved them, they would might realize just how far they have fallen. I know that we aren’t alone in our sentiments. It is, in a word, amazing. It's amazing how they have not only shot themselves in the foot, they also shot their other foot off, as well as both their hands (to their credit, that does take a certain kind of talent). They need to lower prices but it seems like they can't. They need something new and not woke that will really appeal to people, but they can't get out of their own way to do that. They need to start selling off some of the things they bought like Star Wars, Marvel, Fox, etc., and go through a MAJOR reboot of the company and start changing everything out and scale TF down given how over extended they are, but we know they won't. They need to fix shit at the parks, but don't have the staff for it and those they have would likely rather go work for Universal at this point. They need to rid themselves of activists, but they won't. They need a CEO who's name is not Bob, and while his contract does have an end date, who knows what'll happen after that. Lastly, they have insulted over half of their customer base when they lash out at them for having standards and not accepting the crap Disney has been doing for years now. Even if they start doing things that make sense again, the damage to the brand has been done.

The Parks have had maintenance and hygiene issues for decades now. Even before he left, Eisner had downgraded maintenance and cleaning schedules. Eye-gore and Cheapek cut back on maintenance even more. It's just now REALLY catching up to the parks as they've hit their celebration anniversaries. I got ill when I saw pictures of how DIRTY the boats were in one of the classic rides. I don't know if it was "A Small World" or another. I can suggest ONE re-theming since the boat rides tend to sink now! TITANIC. Why not? Disney owns Fox Film Studios, and Fox has at least 2 Titanic movies (1953, 1997) in its film library! It's too bad Disney doesn't allow cosplaying in its theme parks. Do you know how many couples would dress up as Rose and Jack to go on a Titanic ride?!?

And who's fault is it for overspending on Fox and other critically underutilized IPs? Who keeps making movies aimed to bring in foreign money because they have political aspersions? Who keeps kowtowing to a vocal minority with fake activism? Who keeps recycling great movies into bad remakes that make less and less money? Maybe if Disney was run by someone competent who actually knows something about the brand and history of their company, they wouldn't need to keep raising park and merchandise prices.

There's another reason Disney isn't fighting any of this. The copyright on Mickey Mouse is due to expire in January, 2024, which means that Mickey Mouse will enter the public domain. The only thing that can avert this is an act of congress, which, uh oh, is under republican control. Disney has gone very very quiet and is rolling over and taking all of this because if they fight it, the republican congress with flatly deny their request for a copyright extension and Mickey will no longer belong to Disney. Disney is bending over in every way possible and throwing around a lot of dark money to congress in order to keep them from killing Disney's corporate icon. Republicans are literally holding Mickey Mouse hostage for Disney's behavior, which is hilarious.

I think the damage is done. My household is 300k+ pre-tax. We have a pre-teen and young teen boy. My wife and I went there as kids. We went there for our honeymoon. We went there when our boys were both under 10. We *have* the money to burn. But, I haven't talked to anybody nor seen reviewers that feel like you can have a good time at Disney without just fire hosing money. We've talked about going and paying for the private concierge for a day. Just so we could make the best use of our time at Disney and then a couple days w/o. When we priced out a trip. We could take our kids to Europe for a week and get much more bang for our buck. So, eff it, we're going to Universal et al. We're skipping Disney. It blows our minds that we've made that decision... but the cost to *fun* ratio just isn't there anymore. Side note, my boys and I are huge SW fans, which means we don't like Disney SW. Had they done their Star Wars revamp based off of the prequel/original trilogies... you could talk me into blowing the money. But not for what I've seen on the parks channels about what SW they do have.

I think it was more that Iger saw an iceberg (losing the next generation of kids as a fanbase) and steered into the jagged rocks (progressive activists pretending to be fans). Now he's patching the ship up to sail for safe waters but he's also dealing with potential mutiny from members of the crew. I predict that Disney will make a bunch of family-friendly movies and cartoons that use the same budget methods as Illumination to bring back conservative parents. Disney can't keep taking losses and breaking even on massive projects that were expected to have double or triple digit profit margins.

People.....don't forget actions like that, and many *don't forgive* such acts!
