Just a helpful comment on an issue i ran into that none of these install videos mentioned for a pre 2000 club car ds with resistor. When removing the oem charging port a wire from the v glide to the charging port will be unhooked which will prevent the cart from moving forward and backward. If you connect that wire from the v glide directly to the negative side of the lithium battery it will solve that issue. Hope this helps at least one person because apparently i was the first person to ever run into this issue on the history of the internet 😅

We're about to find out if it helps me. Got the battery and everything all wired up. Just waiting on a new motor. I'll let you know, thanks!

Has anyone burned out their resistance coils after converting to lithium? I want to convert but keep reading I need to do away with the coils and add a controller, swap vglide with pentiometer, etc

Will it hall ass in reverse now? Palmetto didn't explain anything about the reverse mode voltage.

That looks like a new motor too. How did the old resistors hold up with the new motor and battery?

How did you connect up the cables for reverse? Reverse only uses 18 volts in the older DS models and it was wired that way from factory. I am aware that with the single 36v lithium battery that I will see full speed in reverse, but I don't really understand how to connect the wiring for reverse on the direction selector.

Were you able to get a response? I have one also trying to figure out what I am going to do with reverse?
@pfantasticbobАй бұрын
@prorow784 i just put a new liFePO4 battery in my 95 club car ds. I haven't tested it yet because I'm waiting for a new motor, but here's what I came up with. There's two positive wires coming off the F&R switch. One goes from the reverse side to an 18 volt terminal. The other goes from the forward side to a 36 volt terminal. Both are getting positive electricity. So now with a single battery, 18 volts is no longer an option without a serious DC-DC step down converter. So my theory is to use the "reverse/18 volt" wire as a jumper and connect it to both positive sides of the F&R switch then use the "Forward/36 volt" wire as originally intended going from the forward side of the switch to the positive terminal of the battery. Sorry for the long comment, I'm more trying to convince myself it makes sense lol

Did the top speed increase with this upgrade? I’m looking at this for my 1988 Club Car DS 36V.

Normal to see a couple MpH increase, speed is a controller/motor issue mostly.

I have a 48v club car da resistor cart. Swapped over to lithium phosphate batteries and it was good for 2 rides about 1.5 hr each. On the 3 ride we rode for about 2 hours and the cart just shut down. The motor was pretty hot, but after removing the neg cable and reattaching the batteries showed 49.6v still so we didn't drain the batteries too low. Do these cats shut down if the motor gets too hot?

I’m not sure, but it sounds like a dirty or loose connection somewhere.
