We are 5 star Mariners and in general don't feel Club Orange is worth the cost on most HAL ships. However, it you are "Anytime Diners" and like to eat between 6 and 7p in the MDR on a Pinnacle Class ship (Like the Koningsdam) Club Orange might be worth it. The MDR was painfully slow on the Koningdsam. It seemed half the ship did not want fixed seating at 5p or 8p. They wanted to eat around 6:30 or 7 like us. Lines around the block. People cued up past the Club Orange dinging room staring in the windows at those eating, tapping on the glass asking how to come in. Some wanted to join Club Orange. You can't after the ship has sailed.) On every other class of HAL ship, we never waited more than 5 minutes to get a table in the MDR at 6:30 or 7:00. The Club Orange Dining area appears to seat about 80. So it would appear only 3% of the Pinnacle Class passengers can join club orange.

I found the whole Club Orange vibe to be snobbish and off-putting, as a passenger. Since there's no "steerage" class on cruise ships, I guess the wealthier guests want another way to flaunt their self-importance in full view of those they consider less-than-equal. If they were that special, they'd be on Seabourne or some of the other luxury cruise lines, instead of cruising with the "riff-raff".
