And it’s nice to see a negative comment (but done in a nice way) once in a while. So many video comment sections are just a parade of non-stop “You’re so great!” comments. My negative comment (hopefully done in a nice way) is: it drives me a little crazy how so few people can participate in a conversation without CONSTANTLY jumping in to talk without letting the speaker finish what they were saying. It just seems that everybody is so hungry to have the spotlight placed back on them. It’s not that hard to be good at conversation. Yet so few people are.

You may not believe in Bible stories (i agree, they've changed some to reflect their own views, but if you really look, the main poin5 is there) who was the one in trouble when Noah's (or it could have been Moses, I'm not sure. But it doesn't matter) son saw him drunk in his tent and decided to go get his brother to shame him. Who was the one God scolded? It was Noah for being drunk. It was the son who found him. God said that he should've covered his father knowing he was drunk. So Mr. Winkler did the right thing. You think maybe that is the reason damn near everyone who knows him loves him?

But, this is the first time I've seen him channel the Fonz in decades. I think Henry Winkler exemplifies kindness. Henry also demonstrates that kindness is definitely not weakness. Kind and indomitable is a powerful combination. Kudos to Bill for engaging him that way. The depth of talent in both guys was on display. Started out with an empty table, just him and me, and 45 minutes later the crowd was 3 deep, jumping and screaming, everyone making money like crazy. I wear jeans, a t shirt, and a leather jacket, and ride a motorcycle to this day probably because of The Fonz. Watched Happy Days regularly with my dad as a kid. I used to work at Paramount for ten years from 97 to 2006, and saw Henry walking around the lot a few times, but never had the courage to walk up to him and remind him of our time at the craps table. My job was preparing back end profit participation statements and cutting checks for celebrities. Happy Days and Cheers were both my responsibility, along with Quantum Leap, on which Henry was an Executive Producer. I moved to Oregon 8 years ago, never having been here. I discovered my neighbor is lifelong friends with Henry, going back to their theater acting days in NYC 40-50 years ago. Henry wrote the forward to her autobiographical book a couple years ago. Hippie Woman Wild by Carol Schlanger.

I really felt like Bill did not give Henry the deference he deserved/deserves. I know it's a casual conversation, but there were so many times I felt like Bill was disrespectful and even too confrontational for no reason with Henry. It sounded some of the time like Bill was arguing with someone he truly disliked. I think he does like and respect Henry, but Bill was not at all at his best. I don't know what was up his ass during this episode, but it was a shame that Henry Winkler happened to be the guest at the time.

They would complete each other sentences and bust each others chops while we talked. I have a picture I cherish of Henry and I that Stacey took with my phone. I tell everyone who will listen that Henry Winkler may be one of the nicest people I have ever met.

Henry Winkler... You sir, are the one guy that Elvis Presley thought was cooler than him and James Dean put together. That's a true story direct from the mouth of Charlie Hodge, who lived at Graceland for 17 years and watched him every week with Elvis until his death in '77. Like Elvis, Henry is a true global icon, and a true treasure to humanity... On a personal note I'd like to share that he's been a hero of mine since I was a kid, and I had the pleasure of getting to talk with him on a zoom call not long ago and he was so kind, polite, and we talked about our mutual friend Cindy Williams who was like my 2nd Mother (God rest her sweet soul). My heart was melting listening to this sweet gentle soul who played the toughest and coolest cultural phenomenon on television talk about his grandchildren, his family, and the joy he gets out of writing his books for kids with me.. His humility is unmeasurable and I thank God for this incredible man that took time to talk with me and treated me like I was the only person in the world that mattered... You blessed my life Henry, and I believe Bill was touched through this interview as well. Until we meet again, and I pray that we do because the only thing missing for me from my time with you was a great hug like you gave Bill at the end of your time with him.

I absolutely Love Henry Winkler and have read his wonderful book. He was my first celebrity crush in the 70s and I not only had the pleasure of seeing him perform with John Ritter on Broadway, (he discusses here,) but afterward he came out and after I had a photo w John,… all of a sudden he sidled up next to me and put his arm around me and I froze. All I could think of was “Fonzie has his arm around me…” lol. That photo is a prized possession (taken on a disposable camera.. #2000.) Love you so much Henry. Thank you.

I loved this episode with Henry Winkler. I've always known that Mr. Winkler was much different in real life to that of his character, the "Fonz" on the tv series, Happy Days, but hearing him talk made me realize how much we both have in common both in our love of family and friends, as well as for a love of going to the theatre and to hear a symphony orchestra...there's nothing better than that in life. I've never noticed before how set in his ways Bill Maher has become, and it makes me wonder if he has aways been that way or if it has evolved with age. I recently became interested in opera, something I never thought I would like. I took an opportunity to see a free performance of Opera Philadelphia performing Puccini's "La Boheme" in Independence Mall Park many years ago and was hooked instantly. I never would have discovered my appreciation for opera if I hadn't taken a chance to see it that night for free under the stars. It makes me wonder what opportunities Bill Maher has passed on by being so stuck in his ways. I hope, someday, somebody like Henry Winkler can coax him out of his comfort zone. After all, variety is the spice of life!
