DJ.Terrum.co.uk Here we go, my third remix of the year! A pretty good improvement from previous years, but even though this remix started out as just one of my unreleased shorts, I ended up having enough inspiration to make it into a full remix. Based on an old pop song with cover vocals by Clubringer, and for some reason a Portuguese statue, here is my remix of Go West!

Nice song again :) Here's my feedback: I like the intro and how the vocals start muffled and become crisp in the buildup. But the chorus, unfortunately, doesn't match the energy I expected. The second half of the chorus is good, though. You did something with the vocals that makes them sound wider. However, I would prefer if the buildup (?) didn't start so early (at 0:47). With buildup, I mean the crashes and the snare rolls (I am not so skilled with these musical terms). The chorus starting at 1:29 starts bit sparse again because there is nothing but the kick, the bass and the lead in the beginning. In general, the vocals are too repetitive for me. You could have used gated vocals sometimes, put more effects on it or used different vocals altogether (if there are different vocals to this track). I didn't want my feedback to sound so negative :/ I hope my feedback helps you nevertheless.

Thanks so much for your feedback! Very constructive and highly appreciated :) I also noticed a lot of the things you brought up during production stages; I absolutely agree that the energy from the intro buildup to the chorus (and at 1:29 sounding 'sparse') is pretty minimal, couldn't really think of what to do to improve that though. However you mentioned gating the vocals too or adding some other sort of effects - I 100% agree with this. I should have added some form of effects to make it sound less repetitive at parts. It was on my mind during the production, but must've completely slipped when I was finalising it! Unfortunately those were the only vocals I could get my hands on though - as much as I would've loved to have some background vocals (or even a different voice altogether) to complement it! :) One thing I must disagree with though is the 'early buildup' you mention. As easy as it would have been to extend, it would contradict with the repetitiveness and, like most songs in the dance genre, it's using a 4/4 time signature (4 bars per 4 beats) which would make it difficult to extend whilst keeping it 'in rhythm' and making it less repetitive. Oh well, lesson learned! I'll have to put more effort into vocal FX on my next release! :) -Terrum
