In every legend there are grains of the truth scattered throughout. It takes a special person that has a passionate and keen mind to see those grains of truth as they truly are. I believe that Graham Phillips is such a person. Often differences in language lead to misunderstanding and confusion. His analysis and conclusions are all very convincing, especially about the names of Arthur (the bear) and Uther Pendragon (the terrible head dragon) being battle names and not actual names. We will all know the truth when (not if) they finally do an archeological excavation at Graham's proposed burial site.

The difference between amateur and professional historians is the amateur's ability to obsess over the details of one particular event, historical figure, or geographical region. A pro can't do that and retain their reputation. Amateurs can afford to be wrong! Pros can't. Lynn Picknett pointed out the success of the amateur who found Richard III's grave, and an incredibly unlikely place. Philippa Langley is now referred to as a British historian when at the time she was the President of the Richard III fan club and spent a decade putting together the clues necessary to find him. Pros don't have that kind of time to dedicate to one project like that.

Said in another way amatures are free to follow the evidence, where "pros" are often stubbornly holding on to what they wrote in their last book or spent their lives preaching because new discoveries could have devastating consequences for their careers... Like Egypt and "egyptology" for example.. "Pros" are more like pastors desperately clinging on to an old religion rather than scientists and thats why people dont consider it a real science, because its not..

What's amazing is that the whole area where he ostensibly lived is still as undeveloped as it was 1500 years ago, except for the removal of the swamp. To find an undisturbed 1500 year old grave of an important leader in the middle of nowhere would be a great find.

Plausible to me is the Annals of the Welsh Priests. Arthur in around 520 AD the victorious recording of an Arthur in the Battle of Badon between Britain's and the Anglo-Saxons. Arthur dies 20 years later in the Battle of Camlann. Arthur was a real Welsh Warrior - not a glamorized armored Knight/King. Arthur ruled from Welsh city of Viroconium or Wroxeter Roman City. Post Roman Society in Western Britain. "Arthur" as a title is plausible. After all, "David" of the Bible has been more than once referred to as a Title and not his real name. I'm convinced to the explanation around 31 Minutes into this documentary. "A pretty compelling case". Yes. Thank you.

Because they don't want it to be an amateur who discovered it. Same way in Egypt they keep a lot of secrets because there is mounting evidence from ametours that a lot of the pyramids etc were built a long time before the Egyptians arrived there. Or at least the whole history of the place will be changed. Same all over the world actually but specifically these things.

Most of these “experts” seem to be the very same self important “know it alls” one would expect them to be. It’s not just the facts, if at all, that draws people to the “once and future King”, and the mythology. It’s the desire for something greater. A fantastic tale that “could” be true, and not only that but that you can even GO to these very same places mentioned in the stories. A fantastical tale that they can be a part of.

In terms of Cornwall, that you so readily dismiss, not only was it one of the last holdouts of the native Britons and therefore an area where the legend of Arthur would have survived into the middle ages. There is the small matter of the substantial high status artefacts found at Tintagel which date from the period that Arthur was allegedly active against the Saxons. Indeed, the mediterranean pottery and artefacts found there far exceeds anything found in the rest of Britain including the negligible contribution of Wales. Similarly, no other part of Britain has an equivalent to the Artognou slate found at Tintagel in 1998, the meaning of which is still open to debate, but suggests an important Dummonian sub-king, who might have been the inspiration for Geoffrey of Monmouth placing Arthur and Uther Pendragon/Gorlois at the most important trading centre in early medieval Britain, Tintagel, Cornwall/Keronw.

I hate to cast aspersions. But. I think the Glastonbury monks may have been scammers. Since I was a twitterpatted girl, I have believed that " Arthur " was a Romanized warlord, trying to hold his tribes together to keep the land. He lived with a sword in his hand, and slept in the saddle. Or on the ground, under his cloak. HE was MY king. A great War Bear.

Of course going back 1500 yrs. or so make it more difficult . And of some of your information comes from old poems and such, how much can you believe. And also alot is researchers opinions and theories. From believing Atlantis exists from poems and stories from Plato. to actual definitive proof is a big difference. In the words of Fox Mulder I want to believe . But I think I will delve in a little deeper and see what else I can find.😊

You know what Grahams' theory when proven correct, would tell you? That Arthur the man in his lifetime was just as important as President Zelensky in our time. He was real, he fought/defended his home and his people. Those people who are only mentioned in the stories of the Druids, as they weren't Christian enough to be written down in history books. Those people who are as real as the people around President Zelensky. Merlin, second-in-command/advisor Ygraine, wife of Uther, mother to Arthur. Of a tribe connected to the druids. Mordred, Arthurs 'nephew' thus son of Arthurs sister. Morgana, mother of Mordred, (half)sister to Arthur, connected to the Druids. Guinevere, Arthurs wife and definitly Christian as she was found in a Christian Grave. Morgause, Ygraine's sister. Lancelot, Arthurs bestie/ soldier who caused a scandal when he run of with Arthurs wife. (Nope Gwen isn't buried with Arthur. She is buried with Lancelot) Knights of the Round Table, Arthurs soldiers and best friends. Excalibur was most likely a gift sword from the druids given to Arthur. The holy grail is Mary Magdalene's tomb. They already went looking for it in 5AD. How amazing. The worst battle in Arthurs life went long on after his death. It's Druids vs Christians. Now if Graham is proven correct, it tells you that the Druids were as able as the Christians to preserve their history. They didn't need written books, they did it by telling stories. Stories which were so strong they are still alive in 2023 AD. Now. Will the people of today allow the Druids to share their stories or are they just going to keep saying it's nonsense?

Graham Phillips doesn't know his ar*e from his elbow. He calls Wroxeter /Viroconium/ but capital V in classical latin represent U and the town was pronounced /Wiroconium/. Likewise he mangles Rhyd y groes, pronounced /Hreed uh groice/ to /Rid ee gross/. He hasn't a clue. The idea that the battle of Camlann was fought near Rhyd y groes (Ford of the cross) derives from the Dream of Rhonabwy which is very late (late 12th or 13thC) and is a satirical story of a dream. He is also wrong that "dragon" in Welsh is the same word as in English. It is not. The Welsh word is "draig" or in old Welsh "dreic". But Uther is never called Pendraig or Old Welsh Penndreic, he is Ythyr Ben Dragwn, Uthyr Pendragon, Uthyr Bendragon. He needs to learn some Welsh before pontificating on Arthur.

Nice thought, but it doesn’t ring true to me. People would feel it if it were true. Use your intuition. I agree with the Rev Fanthorpe. Look up the dude Vortigern. Read his story. Written AT THE TIME. Vortigern stole Arthur’s “kingdom” ( to us these days reminiscent of a city suburb) back in 443 when Arthur was enslaved by the Romans. Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote of the “rise” of Vortigern after the death of the Roman king Constantine lll

The surprising thing to the point of being funny is the false notion that supposedly the "mother" of Jesus and Joseph of Ramatima came to Britain and founded a church - when it is known for sure that the first Christians were all Jews And that in order to belong to the group of Jesus the Jews you had to convert So it is not possible that Jesus' mother was a Christian in the sense you mean, Only after the great rebellion in 147 AD, there was a separation between Jews and Gentiles in Jesus' movement. Mainly, the life expectancy of the people then reached the age of 30+ so to reach an extreme age as it is implied here (because of the dates of arrival) really does not make sense in general. It's all a fairy tale that comes to present some kind of relationship that we don't have at all!

Maybe because yanks the United States used to be a British colony and upon independence all British history and myths and literature books were inherited in the US causing accessibility and perhaps just a thought, Americans descend from Britons citizens before it was independent. American history used to extend into British history. By analogy Arab empires in North Africa still historically descend from a continuation of Arab culture. A maghrebi Arab has access to the same history as the Saudis. Just by analogy.
