Important opinion: origination is a key part of this game. Making the player focus on the gods' secondary effects, instead of going with the exact same strongest attack/special boon every time.

I do like the dynamic in Hades 1 of choosing between a situational damage increase and a lesser but more consistent one, but you can't do it quite the same way with the arcana system and that's perfectly fine

I find it easier to enjoy games when you accept that you won’t always want to play them. I haven’t played Hades 2 in months now, and I’m cool with that. I’d rather wait for sudden motivation or 1.0, especially when the alternative is making it feel like a chore that I have to do.

I had a good week or so of really wanting to play the game post Olympic update. I've unlocked basically everything and am really just grinding out remaining aspect levels, and the new decoration system. Still need to beat the skull challenge on 2 or 4 fear, as well as others, but I'll get there when I get there. Edit: really just meant to say that once the grind stopped being fun, I put the game down and took a breather. Now I'm back to a couple other games with my friends, watching anime and such. As well as doing a run here and there cuz it's fun.

Same, I bought Hades 2 on launch, got a couple of wins, noticed that surface was not complete and stopped playing for a while. When Olympic update was launched, I felt like playing again, I don't like the idea of forcing myself to grind, so when the game becomes too much farming for resources I play something else before coming back

What makes Hades I and II special is that while you can't beat the game first try, dying over and over again gives you time to talk to your favorite characters!

I think that's what separates something like Hades from the survival games he was talking about with bad reviews of "it takes so long to grind this type of resource" There's a story reward for grinding in hades, and once you've run out of new story you're probably decently supplied

My big complaint for Hades 2 is that every chronos fight feels like it isn't moving the plot forwards at all. You beat him the first time and Hecate just says "yup go do it again", which is pretty jarring since in Hades 1 you have a reason to get back to the surface because that's how you're making contact with mom. In Hades 2, you beat chronos and there's no big revelation other than that you gotta fight him again. You don't even know that you need the sand to cast the spell to beat him when you go back to fight him a second time, you just do it because it's what the people around you tell you to do. It doesn't even make that much sense from a story perspective because you risk exposing the camp's location every time you go out to fight him. As soon as it's revealed that fighting him isn't going to kill him, unlike in Hades 1 where killing Hades isn't the goal of fighting him, it no longer makes sense to do it at all and I don't get how I'm supposed to be motivated to do so.

This is most likely just because of early access. Hades 1 did the same thing until early access was over and they introduced the rest of the story.

The talk about aspects kinda made me think it might be cool if you could disable aspects after you have them unlocked as an added challenge. Maybe that could be another Vow for the Oath of the Unseen?

Fyi, Burning offering DOES NOT delete the boon. it makes you unlearn the boon. Smoldering on burned offering was 100% the play in 15:24. you could easily get it back since grey rarity is garbage anyway.

In regards to the burnout you were talking about. I have played Destiny for over 10 years at this point. I don't play as much as I used to, (I used to hit around 150 hours / week), but it is still one of my highest played games. I have been branching out and playing more, but I am able to find enough in it to get enjoyment still. I got about 100 hours into Hades 1 until I stopped playing it. I still enjoy it, but I just ran out of things I would like to do, so I simply stopped. I think that's a big issue a lot of people have with games. If there's nothing to do, just don't play! The games will still be there when you find something you want to do. I recently just finished the Testaments of Night in Hades 2, as well as hitting 32 Fear on surface AND underworld, and have done the full list of prophecies, yet I'm still playing it because I keep finding things I want to do. When I run out of ideas, I'll just shelf the game until an update or until something comes to mind.
