Actual working of anti judder spring is to separate the the steel and friction plates from each other when the bike is parked overnight, they stick together and when you start the bike put the first gear with the clutch on it still jumps, to eliminate this, they are used.

I changed my clutch with a spare one in my shed but now my bike judders back and forth as I let the clutch out but bike drives fine tho once I let go of the clutch. You think mabe the clutch I put in didn't have any judder springs ?

Interesting..... I found this video while researching how to eliminate the Judder spring in a 250cc dual sport. I heard you say 1200cc is this for a road bike ? The main complaint with these on Dual sports is that in off road riding they allow too much slipping ( off road ) of the clutch plates causing them to overheat and wear prematurely, as well as give a feeling of lack of power. The general consensus ( regarding Dual Sport bikes) is that they are good for beginning riders new to dual sport riding to help them not stall the bike, and they take some of the shock out of shifting on road ( not my words just what I have read etc) So I would be interested in your opinion of this ? Do you think it reasonable to want to remove this if your sole purpose is increasing performance for off road riding when rear wheel hookup is more important than a smooth clutch engagement...Oh and one more thing I suppose, does it make a difference when this is used in a hydraulic system as compared to a cable type clutch ? thanks for the video and thanks for the time .

Interesting question. These anti judder springs soften the take up of the clutch. The anti judder spring pushes in the other direction to the main pressure spring typically for the last 0.3 mm of pressure plate movement. The result is that your pressure plate springs will not have quite such a firm clamp on the friction plate that the anti judder spring is housed in. So a clutch with say ten friction plates might be only getting full pressure spring load to the first nine. The tenth plate receiving less clamping pressure. I would say its fair to assume you might only be able to carry and extra 5% of the clutches maximum torque with the anti chatter spring removed. That cold well be the difference between a biting clutch that holds the engine load and one that slips and wears itself out prematurely. I typically find that anti shudder springs ever so slightly reduce the overall torque capacity of the clutch because the friction plate they are housed in wears it's friction linings. The problem in the clutch shown here is that the anti judder spring is so weak compared with the main pressure spring that its hardly effective. The anti judder friction plate, with only half the lining area of a normal plate is expected to work as hard as one with full friction linings. The lack of oil to it further adding to its woes and short life. Cable can bind if damaged or corroded so can stop the pressure plates full load reaching the plate pack. Same if cable adjusted without any free play. Hydraulic less likely to suffer any of these as most are self adjusting and no cable to corrode or damage. Hydraulic better mechanical advantage so nice light feel to the lever.

It depends what you are looking for, you don't need, he doesn't know racing. Without it makes it more positive clutch

RevvedUpBiker hello, where did you order the spring and plates from? Thanks.

Not every clutch pack has that in there actually most do not have it in there

Throw that spring in that small clutch plate in the garbage and put a regular clutch plate in there that small clutch plate and that Jetta spring causes the Honda clutch to slip throw those things in the trash and put one regular plate in there done
