Given his love of pro wrestling, this was the best decision he could make. WWE may possibly have been able to offer him more and to a wider global audience but in AEW, Punk can be himself and help up and coming wrestlers that were like him and who may not have fit the typical mold as seen in the WWE. Wrestling will be better if WWE has a legitimate rival and competitor who forces them to innovate and be creative so adding his huge appeal to AEW is a win for all wrestling and only adds to Punk's career legacy.
@cheezeofages2 жыл бұрын
That reminds me of the bit in one of the Vince documentaries where his family noted that they think part of him regretted buying out WCW because there was no competition anymore to push him. That competition is in a lot of ways good for the business and Vince was at his best and most passionate when he was trying to beat someone else.
@TheAlphaDingo2 жыл бұрын
@@cheezeofages yep. While I want AEW and other promotions to thrive, I don't want WWE to necessarily fold - competition gave us the attitude era and helped take wrestling to the mainstream and generate huge interest. AEW is the smarter choice. They are going to just keep growing. From a creative standpoint WWE is stagnant and complacent. After Vince passes WWE is just going to go into a massive downward spiral. WWE is about to drop another 1/3 of the roster within the year. Half of them will end up at AEW anyway. As long as AEW keeps the amount of titles small and does not split into two shows with different belts they will grow to amazing heights. WWE needs massive restructuring to everything.

@@cmpunk4560 you could think that but you would be wrong. If Disney bought WWE they would destroy it within 5 years. Comcast would be the better choice to sell too. You know what’s truly crazy? The fact that I know who he is and I remember him by the work he’s done, and not by what he’s accomplished(championships). This is how I know a man has transcended past wrestling and made it into what he is. Wrestling doesn’t make the wrestler, the wrestler makes the wrestling.

I love that he’s in AEW! I wish him the best times as a heel or baby face in the cool company! As for WWE, I used to be a huge fan, but these last few years, not anymore. That damn company will spiral down hill. And not giving my favorites a chance to shine in the spotlight. Saying their not even worth the spotlight, few sucky storylines too! The release of wrestlers especially ones I know and see or read of have potential. We’ll do they elsewhere. In Impact, AEW, or in the indie wrestling

“Why didn’t you return to WWE?” Is a dumb question, they obviously don’t know anything about Punk. Besides asking about his return to wrestling, I would ask about him and his wife working together in a storyline, and if it led to them dating. Or ask him about his run on Thor. I’d love to talk about comics with Punk.

@@ItsSoMuchToast I don't agree the Bloodline is the best thing right now. For long term storyline, which is The Rock vs Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, the company's been killing everyone's potential except Reigns. For just one match they're making the whole roster look weak to Roman Reigns.

@@abhisheksawanthxc no bro I think... Roman vs Brock will be main event for wrestlemania... Vs Rock? Maybe next .... On past wrestlemania it was great match ROMAN VS BROCK main event sadly result was spoiled by Seth. The story was incomplete...... Now coincidentally ROMAN is now in the same spot as Brock (before Brock was winning everyone with world heavyweight) now it is exactly opposite Roman winning everyone and same Brock challenging... Now this story will be crafted for wrestlemania more over Rock vs Roman (story based not interesting)... Quality of Wrestlemania degrading now.... So They wanted to fit match with proper Storyline rather bringing up past player Goldberg vs undertaker, goldberg vs Brock was not a great feud & not a great story telling

If you look close Punk kept the urn from his feud with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. He also kept his slammy award for superstar of the year. Idk what his health issues were and how badly WWE treated him if that is the case but there is no denying that WWE made him the biggest star he possible can be in his run with them. Many don't understand that all the pipebomb and stuff Punk talked about only happened because Vince allowed it. Hope Punk has an equally successful run and more in AEW.
@maxacorn2 жыл бұрын
basically punk was working with a lot of injuries. he cracked some ribs working with ryback, who kept working his midsection, even after punk told him not to. he had a major stapht infection that was treated very poorly by WWE doctors and trainers. he wanted to do branding deals but was never given the ok, even though brock famously did that with jimmy john's. even though he was a champion for 434 days, he never main evented a PPV or a wrestlemania. and at the end, he was simply tired from working so hard for so little reward and recognition and just asked vince if he could go home and rest for a while. vince wanted him to work directly after the rumble. that was the last straw so he just walked away. the rest is history.
