Then I owe you a debt of gratitude sir. I never would have gotten the idea to do this without seeing your excellent videos for Armchair General.

The publisher of Armchair General magazine had the idea for the videos. We play CM against each other by email. The videos were a fun challenge, but a lot of work. Each video took around 50 hours to make. I look forward to the next video in your series. What video editing software are you using? Do you play CM on a PC or a Mac? The graphics look a little different than on my PC.

Well, either way those videos filled a niche that was sorely lacking in the community. I'm in full-on guerilla movie mode, all I use is Windows Movie Maker. I'd love to get my hands on some good professional software sometime. I play on PC, a custom built rig. I also have a few mods for the game which change things up a bit, textures wise.

This was a great watch, can't wait to see more. I remember watching the 6 Armchair General tutorials when I first got into CMx2. Would love to see a TTP on artillery.

Yes, excellent and much appreciated. If you'd like a suggestion for future episodes, one problem I'm still struggling with is how to assess a large piece of ground for lines of sight. Placing support weapons like HMGs and AT guns requires not just deciding where the enemy is likely to approach from, but also a lot of effort to check LOS and targeting from many possible locations which can be scattered all around the map given the range of eg the MG34/42. Is there some systematic way to do that sort of work or is it really a matter of placing lots of waypoints and checking the colour of the target line from each waypoint?

There are several methods, but one of the easiest ways to get a quick grasp of the terrain is to drop the camera down to eyeball level, then pan around and have a look. It's not perfect, but short of checking LOS from every single action spot, nothing is. I'll see about doing a feature on checking LOS, but I can only get to it after Part Two.
