It's a shame Josey Wales and double vision stopped but your content keeps the combat mission after actions so brilliant. Be good to see you and gunsalot going head to head again as his videos and yours paired are great.

Great job with this campaign. So far (I say as the series is almost finished) this was the best mission yet. Yes, you got a bloody nose but made them pay tenfold for it. The worst you lost is some scout carriers and infantry, not an entire mechanized company.

This epitomizes the drama of this campaign! It's like a little feature film. When those half-tracks turned up, my heart sank a little bit, but oh, what's this? It's Hapless with the steel chair!

That point-blank grenade attack just made me giggle - the image of this german soldier just plopping agrenade in as it drove past was just too funny! Obviously, not very funny for the poor Jocks in the UC, though.

I've been really loving this series, great work! It's even inspired me to start working on some 15mm WW2 miniatures to play Chain of Command's Scottish Corridor campaign with some mates, so I'm applying fiddly highlights to some Bren guns while I watch this. Despite the fact I can't play Combat Mission on my already abused laptop, I'm a keen watcher of all your videos, keep it up!

I'm making some 15mm troops for Chain of Command and IABSM too! You using PSC or Battlefront?
@harryknight3114 Жыл бұрын
Battlefront, I just found their sculpts a little crisper (and easier to get at my LGS). I really think 15mm is the perfect scale for platoon size games, it's just so cheap and easy to get to the table.
@aaronjones2117 Жыл бұрын
Cool. I might have to pick up a box to prepare for when me and my friends finally finish 29 Let's Go and 29 Let's Go Large. They always looked nice, I just wish the company boxes had an actual company of miniatures in it instead of 2 platoons and an HQ

Good job. Good to see the AI being able to pull off a pretty serious attack there that didn't just bounce off your defences, although you smashed them all the same. The one thing I'll say is that I don't see the why you had to defend the centre line firmly enough to lose two platoons over it, especially when you already acknowledged it as a weakpoint and had TRPs and artillery prepared to smash the line when it fell. If you held it more lightly with some Bren teams and fell back more easily you could have saved some pain I think. It'd leave the Gatehouse objective in a more precarious position if they turned towards it from the centre but you already have a TRP there and could probably easily conduct a counterattack from the wooded area behind and to the left of the objective.
@usuallyhapless9481 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, going into the battle I was looking at the ground and the assets thinking I had too many troops for the job, I just needed to get the enemy onto a target reference point. I only had 3 TRPs though- one in Gatehouse, one at the top of the main road and then one back near the bridges as a final fall back. If I had one more, then I could have popped it in the centre, which would have totally changed my defence.

On a fact note. It is always hard for a Commander to call in Arty, knowing you probably have wounded men in the area where you could not extract them, but knowing the enemy has taken those positions always falls heavy on the Commander.

This mission was really interesting to see as it expanded the last defense with a larger defense. Maybe this can be used as an inspiration for the PVP Road to Demascus campaign where it starts as a small battle probe into a larger city size battle with the map expanding based on Blues progress on taking the city

I do wish the carriers were more survivable, they seem like such a useful asset on paper.
@usuallyhapless9481 Жыл бұрын
To be fair, they're a lot more survivable when you don't park them right where enemy armour can see them

@@usuallyhapless9481 The lack of protection for the gunner on the MMG carriers really stands out as limiting their utility. But also that, yeah.
@usuallyhapless9481 Жыл бұрын
Well, the MMG carrier is a little different. For direct fire, the better option is probably to dismount and set the MG up somewhere sensible, but they were also used en masse for indirect fire shoot and scoot.
