PC-DMIS Edit Window Header | CMM Tech Tips - CMMXYZ

This Tech Tip Video from Canadian Measurement - Metrology shows how to insert your company logo into the PC-DMIS Edit Window header. This also allows your logo to appear in legacy reporting templates.
Hey there. Thanks for joining me again for another PC-DMIS tech tip.
In an earlier tutorial, I showed you how to put your company logo in the Report Window Header. Today I'll show you how to put that company logo in the Edit Window Header. I'll show you what I mean by that.
Let's go to our Edit Window. You can see it there at the top, the PC-DMIS logo. Another place the Edit Window Header appears is in a different report template. I'll just go back to our report window. I'll show you what I mean.
This is the default report. This is the text only report. If you go here to the end, this template here called Default, it appears there as well. The same image controls both the Edit Window Header and the header in this particular template.
I'll show you where we find that. It's actually in a different place. It's not a label template editor. It's actually found in the installation folder, PC-DMIS. I'll give you a quick tip on how to find that fast.
Let's minimize PC-DMIS. Go to My Desktop. Look for your shortcut icon that opens PC-DMIS. Give it a right click and select Open File Location. That'll take you directly to your installation folder.
Once we're there, we'll sort by type. I'm looking for a file called logo.dat. There it is there. I'll give that a click. I'll open that up. You can see it's showing the file wai.bmp. What that is referencing is a bitmap image shown over here. That is the PC-DMIS logo. What we need to do is paste our company logo into the installation folder and change this wording here to show the name of our company logo.
Let's just close this. While I'm in Windows Explorer, let's go to Pictures and there's my CMM logo. There's both a jpeg and a bitmap, but we need it to be a bitmap for this to work. Let's copy this and we'll go back to the installation folder. Just paste it and you can see it there. It's called CMMlogo.bmp.
What we need to do now, open up the logo.dat and we'll type in the name of our company logo bitmap. Save this. Close it. Back to PC-DMIS. What we first need to do is close the program. Just file close and re-open it. Edit window header. Back to our edit window. Scroll to the top. There we go. There's my CMM company logo replacing the PC-DMIS logo.
Let's check out our report. Back to the default template. There we go. It's in both. It's a little trick that a lot of people don't know. Hope you enjoyed this. Thanks for joining me and we'll see you next time.
