I was #2927 and I got my service grade a couple of years ago. 1944 Colt frame and a mid 50’s commercial Colt slide. Not bothered at all with the barrel or slide. These were all overhauled. The grunt in Vietnam did not have an all parts correct 1911, either. I’m very happy with it. Well worth the money to me. It goes well with my 1944 Garand from the CMP.

Definitely a nice looking pistol. Has some scuff marks, but that adds to it in my opinion. Shows that it's been around the block.
@soylentgreen70744 жыл бұрын
Yeah not bad for being 75 years old. Just glad there’s no pitting. I was lucky there were service grades still available. They go by crate and it’s just whatever is available when your number comes up. Luck of the draw. So someone might get stuck with a field grade or a rack grade in less than desirable condition and less desirable parts.

I got mine yesterday. It has a Colt frame of 1945 vintage however everything else is NOT Colt; the slide is possibly a 1980s manufacture replacement, it has a 1950s commercial barrel and just about everything else is not original but either a contract replacement or commercial part. I'm not good with what I have. The description is that these CMP 1911 may have commercial parts but they didn't say that many of them would have been completely rebuilt and that the only thing left original would be the frame. I have a parts bin 1911A1. You got lucky that at least you have a frame/slide that match. The slide on my gun has a huge 7790314 stamped on the side and a barrel that is early commercial 1950s.
@soylentgreen70743 жыл бұрын
My frame and slide are both colt but do not match. The frame is 1945 and the slide is 1918 WWI era with a mix of other parts. No matter what our guns have in them they were or may have been issued this way and we have paperwork saying they came straight from the US Army which makes them more collectable and interesting to me. I rather have one like this than a factory original in the box that was never touched. Sure they’re less valuable but each one had a part in history and untold story you can just imagine about. If only they could talk.
@texassportsman58803 жыл бұрын
@@soylentgreen7074 I would still rather have matching frame and slide. If I cannot find a matching slide I'll sell it and keep looking.

I later found out the slide is 1918 manufactured. But definitely was rearsenaled together because of the matching finish.

11/17/2022 CMP 1911A1 Sales Round 3. RGN 34042. I received my Service Grade M1911A1. It is a 1943 Remington Rand frame with a Colt manufactured Hard Slide (7790314) and matching chrome lined barrel (.45 AUTO - 7791193 - '85) This combination I found out was a much sought after for competition shooters. All roll marks and initials are legible. The Army ordnance crossed cannons have a "MR" over strike but a portion is still visible. The "MR" I have been told is from Mount Rainier Arsenal (another unique feature). All in all a VERY nice piece of military history. I am grateful to the CMP for making these available. Me? MSgt USAF ret ('73-'95) A former Security Policeman and armorer. I crossed trained out of SPs into Operations Management/Sqdrn Ops and served as First Sergeant .
