I painted my black ‘93 Cobra myself in my 2 car garage/makeshift paint booth in 2020 and while not perfect it turned out amazing to me. Car was in similar condition when I acquired it 12 years ago perhaps a bit better. But as an AZ car the sun likely aged it. Something to be said for doing this work with your own hands - a certain level of appreciation. I definitely appreciate the details you describe here like pulling the quarter windows and all the trim. It’s the only way to do it right.

Glad to see you yanked the quarter windows. As I was watching them yank the window trim, I kept saying, "They better not just tape the quarter glass off." Amazing looking progress.

EffSpot brought me here. I have 91 civic I bought in 1998 when I was 19 years old. I still have it, it’s completely stock. I was looking to do some restoration work on it, clear coat is peeling. Great stuff. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Hi there! I’m a huge Mustang enthusiast and love the channel and contact. Very nice 93 Mustang. But once I saw those rear wheel come off, I started second guessing myself about the vehicle actually being a real 93 Mustang Cobra. The vehicle should have rear disk brakes, not drums. I’d double check the vin or call SVT if that’s a real 93 Cobra. A lot of those vehicles got retagged during the 90’s.
@DukeICT2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Having a ‘93 Cobra. It shouldn’t have drums on the rear. Plus other tiny elements in watching the video. Curious to see the final product for the other ‘93 specific details.
@Petraeus_952 жыл бұрын
I agree, it’s definitely a cobra. Im guessing it was in minor theft recovery. Probably they stole the cobra rear end and replaced it with a gt drum rear end.

hi! i'm new to your channel, and i found it through a video by effspot on KZbin. i noticed you said you have at least some 70+ cars in your private collection. i swear, with that many pieces, you can make a whole series of "best of my current collection" with a simple walkaround, interior overview and possibly a fire up at the end. younger viewers will litterally never have seen some of the cars in your collection, and the vintage guys will comment on every possible detail, especially if something is not "right" in their opinion 😂🤣😂🤣😂 on the internet we just have to ignore the "bad", and focus on the good!

I was just wondering if you were going to such detail on the front bumper, removing the wing and the quarter glass, why didn't you remove the mouldings, the rear bumper, the side skirts, the hatch, the doors and the front nose? So that way there isn't any over spray on anything and you can get 100% complete coverage on all edges. I think the car looks fantastic and would love to redo my mustang one day. Looking forward to the end result!
@roccosvan2 жыл бұрын
Door mouldings should stay on... The replicas from LMR aren't as good as the originals not even close. As for the side skirts.. I think it's ok to leave them on I did leave them on my 92 GT when I sprayed it.
@claymcclanahan91912 жыл бұрын
@@roccosvan I understand that. Those metal strips inside the mouldings are very easily bendable. And then they're done once bent. Great job on bringing this car back to new!!
@roccosvan2 жыл бұрын
@@claymcclanahan9191 you're not wrong about taking the skirts off... But I think it depends on how bad condition they are in. Brew2l took his off for eg.
@cmsmotorsports76162 жыл бұрын
Hi Clay. The reason why we did not remove the side trims and some of the other parts off the vehicle is because ( If damaged during the removal process) the replacement reproduction parts available will never fit correctly like the original parts from Ford. Unfortunately, some of these OEM parts are discontinued from the manufacturer.
@claymcclanahan91912 жыл бұрын
@@cmsmotorsports7616 I understand that. The edges are always a concern on any repaint. But the risk of messing up the mouldings or any other trim isn't worth it. Looking forward to seeing the end result!!

Is there a reason why you used Glasurit vs PPG paints to get your M6729A finish? Just curious as I would like to refinish my car and want to get the closest match to the original Ford paint. I am not tied to any of them or saying you were wrong, just wanted to know why.

drum brakes (9:01) are not OEM on the 93 cobra...it is 4 wheel disc with 4 lug. Not original parts for sure. Who would put drum brakes on an SVT car? Shameful

You pulled the quarter windows but painted over the plastic 3M taped on side body mouldings? I don't understand that on a car this valueable.

Remove the ground effects and moldings. Not that hard. Replace the metal retaining strips. I guarantee they are rusted.
