Four films produced by Canadian National in the 1970's:
- Power Movers
- Steel Wheels on Steel Rails
- A Concrete Decision
- Dual Rail Laying
These deal with diesel locomotives, track, use of concrete ties and other railway technologies.

Films like this a far better than what you see produced today. No dumbing down, but instead perceptive and literate. Much more watchable this way! Great music, fashion and haircuts by the way!

As a physicist, I absolutely LOVE the physics discussions here explaining how trains work and why they travel with so much less friction.

I saw the old Soo Line cars!! I lived in Michigan's Upper Penninsula. $Soo Line went right by our house. As a kid it was fun to wave at the conducted & engineer as they pulled long lines of cars by us as we stood there and waved. Saw lots of CN & CP cars too.

Sorry about that. Im trying to find a way to fix it and make the sound mono. KZbin doesn't feature a way to adjust sound levels. This came off a CD-rom and was probably uploaded that way.

Yes. The railroads of both nations have always been intertwined.

@@halon7476 I was 11 years old and a model train nut when the Noodle came out. I was so obsessed with it I stuck it on every loco I owned

5:16 "but now this average is about ninety cars, and in some cases up to one hundred twenty five" LFMAO, in Canada, they still use short trains, CN will always be the railroad that can't do anything right.

Yes, concrete ties are big in many areas and parts of the world. In some places they have to be concrete or the locals will pull the wood ones and burn them for fuel.
