The CN Dash 9’s will have a special place in my heart. Because a very kind CN engineer let me up into the cab of one of these.

This is my first viewing of these amazing freights & diesels. Now i must get some BC RAIL DIESELS in scale models. Great shots of these fantastic locations. Working hard at replicas similar to what i'm viewing. 😃👋👋👋

The first Dash 9's, 2500-2522, were the first CN locos to come with the standard manufacturer hood instead of the full width "Draper taper" hood, and they were also the last to use the CN style widenose cab. I believe prior to the first GE Dash 9's the last CN locos purchased new with a standard manufacturer hood was the GMD SD40-2W's as the SD50/60F's, HR-616's and GE C40-8M's used the "Draper taper" hood.

Any reason why there are euro engines in canada? I thought they were different gauges and couplers?

Do you know which units that have the walkways that let snow fall through the walkway so that it won't accumulate on the walkways? Btw, awesome videos. I've been lucky enough to be let inside of CN 4711. I was blown away between the interior of the safety cab and the interior of the modern (1981) North American cab. I also really enjoyed your series on the HR locomotives.

oh they will be around for awhile yet, cn is starting to repaint them back up to shiny, think i saw 2517 in new paint already, most of the bcol units are painted up now, still the odd 1 or two to do

I'm sure there are more than 6 Dash 9s with Locotrol. I suppose CN could have added it to more of them sometime after they were purchased.
@david-othen9 жыл бұрын
+MBrailfan That is certainly possible. I think the six that came from GE equipped with locotrol were probably a test batch to try out the equipment.

BC Rail in Nova Scotia? What's next? Alaska Railroad in British Columbia and all over North America? I would very much like to see Alaska Railroad connected to Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, CSX, Union Pacific, BNSF, and Norfolk Southern. It will greatly help the economy we are in now and Alaska feel less isolated from the rest of the United States.

+Ryan Crawford Parry The connection between BCRail (now Canadian National) & Alaska Railroad has been promoted on several occasions!

+cn78356Obviouly, CN will not purchase any new Dash 9s but they might purchase some second hand ones as they did with Dash 8s. I would anticipate that they might be around for another 10 years or perhaps even more
+GEES44DC 2697 to 2726 are sub-lettered IC but I think they have always had the CN livery. I included footage of 2704 altough the IC lettering is hard to see because of the dirt. Were there any other IC Dash 9s?
