In 2014, President Xi Jinping met the Mark Bacon family during his state visit to Australia. In 1999 and 2001, Mark Bacon's father, Jim Bacon, visited Fujian, China twice as the governor of Tasmania, Australia. Xi Jinping, who was on duty in Fujian at the time, received this friend from afar. After returning home, Governor Jim Bacon talked about Xi Jinping to his son Mark Bacon and his family. He once said: "You'd better remember that man's name. He is a person who does great things." Premier Jim Bacon also invited Xi Jinping, then Premier of Fujian Province, to visit Tasmania. However, Governor Jim Bacon passed away due to illness in 2004, and he missed this appointment with Xi Jinping forever. Many years later, Xi Jinping, who has become China's supreme leader, traveled across the ocean to attend this old friend's appointment.
