A lot of large global Japanese corporations are making history record profit due to low JPY. 33% up. It means the Japanese government are gaining record high corporate taxes from them. Small to mid import businesses are hurting but from the government perspective their loss is not critically impacting because it’s covered by profits/taxes made by those large players. Raising interest rate to “strengthen JPY” discussion has no point. What the Japanese government needs to do is to support and redistribute gained taxes to those small mid size businesses impacted by low JPY.

It is great for export-driven economy like Japan.... They did it artificially and massively back in 1970s and 1980s to boost their economy... that was the time when Japanese tourists were flocking Hawaii and major US cities in droves (kinda like Chinese tourists before pandemic). THat was also the time when The Japanese was the top investors in Asia and America.

But are they export driven? Dont they import majority of their goods?

In order for a country to be considered to be doing well, it only has to 2 things : 1. Trade Surplus / Positive Balance of Trade 2. Positive Net International Investment Position.

more attractive japanese exports is a good thing for japan..situation is volatile at the moment, an over reaction by central bank would effect an already slow local economy.

In the past, a strong yen had caused economic stagnation for decades. Let's see if a weaker yen will help.

This is what I'm wondering... with their debt, they can't raise rates to defend the yen... looks like they're trapped.

Japan depend on selling tourism and exporting goods out to the world to survive unlike Singapore who attract investments in. In the past when technology, skills and talents wasn't that widespread people have no choice but to buy from that few handful of countries and they can charge a hefty price for their assets thus their currency strength is strong. Nowadays no countries have that edge and people have a much bigger choice. Also you drop your currency strength you sell your goods easier and attract more tourists to enter your country. Singapore can't do that. Singapore have to do the reverse instead by keeping the currency strong all the time. You adjust and weaken the currency strength your investors will run away from Singapore very quickly. Singapore three most important things to defend are her currency strength, societal stability and law integrity. These three draw in everyone and keep most in check. If these three went awry Singapore will be in trouble.

国債発行額が膨れ上がりすぎて、中央銀行が機動的な金融政策を取れなくなっている。 衰退著しい日本よりも、発展著しい東南アジアや中国に投資するのは、自然な流れだ。

This should worry Asia's stability. Because when Japan declines rapidly, they will be even more submissive to the US; thus, creating an opportunity for the US to convert Japan into 2nd Ukraine in Asia (against China). Imagine the US suggested billions of aids for Japan in exchange for hosting some nukes on Japan's territory...
