Thanks for your wonderful video dated 18 Feb 2023.I was a colleague & friend of Chow Ah Choy. At work, we knew him to a quiet, cool & calm person. After his terrible ordeal, no one had the heart to ask him about it & he behaved & worked normally. He later married & had 2 children. They grew up & eventually he retired. At the time of your interview he was ailing & I feel he had to tell all to get it off his chest. I was shaken to see him tear up at 11.42. It must have hurt & traumatised him all along. He passed away peacefully on 26 March 2023 while visiting his home town in Kuantan, Pahang. He was cremated & his ashes brought back here by his children. Bro Chow, thank you for your service & may you rest in peace.

Incredible documentary by CNA, it's hard to imagine the life they were describing in the 70s. Can't imagine this was just a few decades ago. Amazing how you managed to get in touch with so many people who had been involved with this incident during that time. I found the newspaper reports really interesting too. I'm thankful for the laws that have made Singapore safe.

Never realised that the illegal firearm menance persisted till early 70's. I thought it died out in the 60's. Very glad for the 1973 Arms Offence Act which put up a standard that resonates with citizens. Of course economic development, education and job opportunities, social inclusiveness and intervention are vital factors too. In recent days, the rare brandishing of firearms came from rouge policemen or auxiliary officers. Perhaps the NRA can take a page from this.

The documentary made the Ture recall of my time...bring back the memories in the past history to the young Singaporean for how fortunate they are now a day.

Don't they have direct living family members who were present during this time? Did CNA reach out to them? So weird to see basically an outsider and "distant" relatives' giving their accounts, literally on 2 dead men, who were never charged nor go to trial for their presumed crimes, and who they've never lived their lives with. And their mother's statement seems suspect, as someone who got to listened to her account first hand months before her death.

Excellent. There were many more other notorious criminals at that time. CNA should also produce documentary on them.

Why allow the 2 men to visit the injured criminal? Just plain stupidity.

I think STAR team was only established in 1993, so kinda like 20 years later, so they didn’t have that option

Ifi am not wrong its was the Gurkhas that was activated to surrond the place not the Spore reserve unit, because at tyhat time we dont have the Police STAR or the Rapid Development Force. Those Detectives of those days are masters of all they are the special forces themself in upholding the law. A Salute to these brave fallen Police Officers.
