@tedsmith6137 *controversial comment ahead* In the US the major news agencies are highly biased. MSNBC, CNN are egregiously liberal while ABC, CBS, NBC are liberal while Fox conservative. What has happened in the US is that liberal and conservative news outlets do not report on the news - but their opinions (at best). At worst, they miscontrue comments from either side to further vitriol amongst the US populace and causing division. For example - liberal channels claimed that Biden was fine up until the last minute, when he wasn't. Liberal channels also claimed Hunter Biden's laptop is a Russian hoax. Fox isn't much better however - they do exactly what liberal channels do, taking comments way out of context to mock people. In short - don't trust the US news. Read it but don't trust it until you do some of your own research.

@edzuris7944
@edzuris7944 2 ай бұрын
- Things are rather complex. There are roadblocks on top of roadblocks being thrown at SpaceX to impede its development of its Starship launch system. Looking at the big picture since the industrial revolution, well over some 200 years, the human race has pumped at lot of green house gases into atmosphere. The human race can't just turn off all processes that make green house gases as that would kill thousands of human beings; if not millions. Though we should mitigate some effects of the green house gas production. For example closing down aka plugging the thousands of abandoned natural gas wells in the United States would do much more to mitigate green house gas problem than shutting down SpaceX. If you are wondering why the plugging of the thousands abandoned natural gas wells hasn't already happened it is because of doing such is rather expensive. As for Starbase at Boca Chica Texas the Oceans are going to rise for a very long time. Maybe for hundreds of years. Thus the shorelines are going to change; whereupon the shorebirds are going to move inland. SpaceX has purchased land upstream for the wildlife, but eventually even that will be over taken. The green house gas mitigation efforts need to continue as that buys us additional time to prepare for the new reality. But care needs to be taken for these mitigation efforts as to only target things that will really make a difference while avoiding the feel good quick fixes that accomplishes little. Electric cars is a good example as even if the electricity is produced by coal to charge the car batteries the result will be a reduction of green house gases. Blue Origin actions shows us how Jeff Bezos grew Amazon. - Essentially Jeff Bezos efforts are to slow down a competitor's efforts by using foul politics and lawsuits. Unfortunately certain Physics challenges cannot be solved by lawsuits. It should be noted that Jeff Bezos space efforts at best have been sluggish and lethargic. In the mean time Elon Musk thrives on chaos by poking various groups in the eye with foolish statements on twitter. That creates politics that can slow things down. The reality is humanity doesn't have a lot of time to mitigate various climate problems that are going to cause mass starvation of humans. The FAA needs to allow SpaceX to advance with its efforts to do its thing within the USA while curtailing Jeff Bezos unhelpful litigation and other legal maneuvers. - Jeff Bezos needs to learn on how focus on manufacturing space hardware to compete with SpaceX. In the past it was discovered that using systems developed for controlling Railroads were impracticable for controlling Airlines. As a result it is likely that systems developed for the controlling Airlines will be proven to be impracticable for controlling Space development systems. Perhaps NASA should be the organization the oversees Space development instead of the FAA. Until we have established colonies on the Moon and Mars we need keep using our brains to create viable solutions to keep everything from burning down. - The Human story is all about overcoming difficult challenges in order to survive then prevail. --

We are headed for a new ice age.
@edzuris7944
@edzuris7944 2 ай бұрын
@@ExploringCabinsandMines - This is rather old information from maybe 20 years ago where congress debate there was a discussion that in theory the planet Earth should be entering into a cooling phase, these cooling phases happen very gradually. From (www.climate.gov) are claims Earth has experienced cold periods (informally referred to as “ice ages,” or "glacials") and warm periods (“interglacials”) on roughly 100,000-year cycles for at least the last 1 million years. The last of these ice age glaciations peaked around 20,000 years ago." The publication goes on to say: "Over at least the past million years, glacial and interglacial cycles have been triggered by variations in how much sunlight reaches the Northern Hemisphere in the summer, which are driven by small variations in the geometry of Earth’s axis and its orbit around the Sun. But these fluctuations in sunlight aren’t enough on their own to bring about full-blown ice ages and interglacials. [But can triggered by] several feedback loops that amplify the original warming or cooling [trends]." You can read it yourself. ---------------------------------- www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/hasnt-earth-warmed-and-cooled-naturally-throughout-history There are other things that can dump green house gasses into the atmosphere, but what is new over the last million years is what humanity has been doing. I think we are an “interglacials” period that has a strong feedback loop set off by 200 years of humanity dumping huge amounts of Co2 into the atmosphere of the planet that we are living on. One million years ago humanity, such as it was, were hunter gathers with very small populations. There were some bottle neck events that reduced human populations down near extinction levels. One of the more recent near extinction event was around 180,000 years ago in the Late Pleistocene where Africa had a serious drought where homo sapiens were barely clinging to life along the coast in Southern Africa I hope to be around in 30 years to see what happens to this climate change. --
