I am completely shocked by how much in demand storage is right now. A while back a bought a 11k sq fr warehouse with highway frontage. I subdivided it into 4 suites and invested a lot of money into them in hopes of leasing them out to tire shops, mechanics, body techs, welders, etc. It turns out the most sought after use for these suites were storage. I was able to lease out the whole building to 4 tenants to a total of 11500 a month. These are small businesses who were moving out of small storage units and were just looking to upgrade. Regardless, I can’t believe people are willing to pay that much for just storage.

Yes, good idea especially if quantity purchasing will save on unit cost but the items must be non-perishable. @@shermananderson700 True, but I'm really excited to declutter and running it through in my head several times has shown that there's very little I'm attached to and will want to keep. My family has had moments of leaving everything behind when needing to suddenly move, and instead of doing the opposite (making me want to hold onto everything tightly), it helped me to ensure I nevet got too attached to things. I have a few precious items that aren't that big that I'm keeping (stuffed animals from my childhood, some porcelain dolls I miraculously haven't broken yet), but the rest has my blessing to get the hell out of my house 😂.

Just as I was watching the video I thought "Well, if it is so profitable maybe I should rent my empty rooms as storage" and minutes later they mention they already have an app that lets people rent their empty space. Damn!

Pointless to store stuffs when the real problem is overspending on unnecessary things. It's not about being a minimalist with bare and empty rooms; it's about conscious spending.

People are really ignorant in this comment section. This pandemic has caused people to have to move back in with family or with friends or roommates. It makes complete sense why the industry is becoming so popular.

Yes Cece, it has become a way out of a squeeze box kinda like Princess Leia in a beautiful white gown but caught in the compactor scene in Star Wars. It appears to me that many people are hoarding money in case life gets more difficult. However, home construction is moving along at a healthy rate I’m told. comfortably’concerned and sorry for folks woh don’t have a decent place to live.

There’s a man in our small town, near age 90, who hoards. I went to his house shortly after his wife passed three years ago to try to help him find something. I couldn’t believe what I observed. His yard is also filled with vehicles he will repair some day and try to sell on Main Street at a business property.

This is the problem with a materialistic society. Those who need a storage unit are people who live above their means, or like to buy stuff just for the heck of it. Maybe we can do a correlation to what their financial status is as well.

0:03 There is an inherent problem with talking about the "number of items people do not use." Most people's items can be broken down into smaller items. For example, suppose that you do not use a specific car very often. Well, a car is only "ONE" item from a particular perspective. If you don't use the car, then you are not using the windshield wiper blades, not using the alternator, not using the transmission, etc...
