I love Hondas in general. The issue is that they’ve become so obsessed with simplifying, cost cutting, and making things so bland that it’s sort of lost the DNA of past Hondas. Not to mention they’re the most expensive of the mainstream brands with fewer discounts, and in some cars, they skimp on features that every competitor offers. They’ve sort of lost that fun and sporty character of past Hondas, and become expensive and cheap.

I remember looking at a civic hybrid hatchback for my parents and we ended up going Camry XLE and there was hardly any daylight in price between the XLE Camry and civic hybrid hatchback, as we got some discounts while the Honda dealers just wouldn’t budge near me. It’s funny how a compact sedan hybrid gets so close to a hybrid mid size sedan in price and it’s not top trim compact for base mid-size price, it’s underequipped top trim compact for super or nicely equipped middle or slightly above middle tim midsize sedan price.

Of course, the reputation for affordability, reliability and dependability helped among the younger demographic, too.

Honda was cool when it built great engines. Engines that sing to 8k rpm, last 200k miles. Transmissions that last & manual transmission that feels like "well oiled rifle bolt". V6 that revs eagerly to 7k with great efficiency. Now it’s oil dilution, head gaskets problems, CVTs. Rod bearing failures. Long wheel base sedans (TLX) with subcompact interiors. $58k for a 4 cylinder. Just wait till the new Recall for 2018-2023 V6 engines.

Agree. My 2019 Fit has the right-side blind spot camera, and it's the best safety-related add-on I've ever seen on a vehicle for visibility purposes. I believe every car should have dual-blind-spot cameras standard/mandatory. It's that much BETTER/safer than turning your head away from the front view of the car all the time (and it's much better for older folks whose bodies don't twist like they used too...). They could ditch the mirrors and just use the dual camera set up, saving money overall, and improving drag coefficient of the vehicles.

Anyone that still thinks EV is going to be a thing anytime soon is living in a California fantasy world so ending it there is so weird. The market might think EV is something but the average car buyer doesn’t, and crashing demand for anything EV has made that clear. Meanwhile Honda Pilots have a waiting list at most dealerships, but you conveniently left that point out.
@staycgirlsitsgoingdown2Күн бұрын
The demand for EVs isn’t crashing by any means. The model Y is the best selling suv in the world, every single western automaker is failing in china as people refuse to buy their ICE engines in favor of electric ones, sales are growing 40-60% year over year in the US, this is the future. You can whine all you want, they’re here to stay. Honda can keep selling gas guzzlers for another few years but as battery tech improves and the shortfalls of EVs go away and the market pivots, they’re gonna be left behind if they don’t start trying. Hondas first EV that they just launched a few months ago is also quickly becoming a best seller… so clearly people want one
