At the risk of sounding old, _back in my day_ (😄) it was only possible to study this field after undergrad, leading many of us old timers to go to grad school. With an ever increasing amount of robotics, autonomous technology, and AI in our everyday lives, the need for individuals with this type of background will continue to grow!

Im a cnc machinist in Germany and just last week we comissioned our first robot that loads raw material into the machine and takes the finished parts out. Since shortage of skilled workers is a thing here, thats the only way we can sustain and grow our output. Where one person usually was managing 2 machines at max there will probably be one person managing 6 machines with robots in the future
@mennol3885Ай бұрын
Somehow we have a shortage of workers and robots are taking our jobs at the same time? You're doing great work. People need to stop listening to fear mongering messages and focus on learning skills and be useful.
@LionelAkramАй бұрын
We had ten cells like this at Spuhr, maybe more now, I left over two years ago. But it was also swapping parts from OP1 to OP2 in addition to material in and finished part out since we would have both setups running side by side the machine. Only needed 3 of us technicians trained to do CAM/CNC and programming/setting up the robots to keep all 10 machines running almost 24/7 and I'd often cover for programming/running a CMM too with frequent setup changes. If anything the company hired more and grew as a result where it wouldn't have been possible with the higher cost of labour in Sweden.

in your opinion do you think that with a recognizable database with in a robot still can make its own decisions or be overided? meaning they could create a database and decide who lives or dies. they could create a replacement robot for every person they kill. it would intake food and proceed to process it and make it come out a soft cusion under the rectum. An entire mechanical organism that resembles every aspect of what a human does on a daily basis filled with personality traits in a database. its scary but the war ahead isn't gonna look like the terminator it will be silent and everyone will still look like they are accounted for and alive.

too bad, the industry only want experienced robotic engineers with years of experience but at the same time don't want to hire junior/graduate robotic engineers. The situation here in my country is exactly the same as what you described. The sector only welcoming to those who have experience and actually those who get the job is those experienced job hopper that has at least 3 year experience or above. The president in my department took decision to stop graduate trainee program and those who will end the program will be no longer allowed in company. No support given after contracts ends. Definitely, I feel no difference if you are working in other sector, you are just abandoned like trash. Till now, I still have no idea why the company would rather fire a fledging engineer and employ the new batches of graduate trainee.Honestly, it breaks my trust and I am totally disappointed with the tech industry as I worked my best and sacrifice my time same as those experienced former colleague. PLCs with ladder or structured text code, C++ code and machine vision systems, robot controller code (each manufacturer has their own IDE and coding language usually)

I recently got a degree in robotics engineering tech, very similar to your field, and it is very much focused on implementation for existing systems. Be very careful with your coursework in university, because classes that anybody can take without pre-reqs about "machine learning" might be useless classes devoid of actual useful information.
