It's curious how the IRS had time to audit me in 1998 just because I moved to a different state. I was earning no more than 15,000. I never had a criminal record (not even a traffic ticket), I didn't own anything (except for a 13 year old vehicle), and I was a single mom. I had to go through a bunch of questions and had to submit bank statements, and any receipts I had (of course I told them I don't save grocery receipts). They asked for the location of my daughter's deadbeat dad. I told them if the state couldn't locate him, I certainly was unable to so they were welcome to look. They finally sent me my refund 6 months late with a little bit of interest, but what a ridiculous waste of time & resources to go after someone living in poverty.

Accusations more often indicate an effort to avoid responsibility than a task-solving effort. That's a minimum government officials should know before they apply for the office.

Why don’t they educate lower income families on how the tax code works and educate our kids on investing, it amazes me that we allow millions of Americans to participate in a 401k but we don’t educate them on how it works.
