Why a wall was constructed at the end of runway? If had the wall had not constructed, the loss would have been minimized by atleast some 60% Normally we don't notice any walls being constructed. This may be one significant amount of reason why the flight becomes a fireball. Or may be malfunctioning of landing gears owing to hydraulic failure itself! Aviation departments should pay a warfoot concern before any single flight takes off as many precious human lives are concerned My deepest condolences and RIP to the deceased.

I think if walls are required near runway then they should not be made with bricks. Engineers can use other material which reduces the impact force. maybe Aluminium sheet or just wires..

i just discovered it was not a boundary wall....they need some antennas which generally is not made on concrete wall....basically it was literally a concrete blocking sitting at the end of runway

Jeju Air Flight 2216 crashed today at 9:03AM Local Time, the flight was enroute from Bangkok International Airport to Muan International Airport in S. Korea, onboard were 175 passengers and 6 crew member. The plane was said to have suffered Gear Failure due to a supposed Bird Strike. Haunting footage shows the moment the plane with 181 onboard overran the runway and crash to a parameter wall at the end of the runway. As of now there were confirmed deaths of 151 and currently have 2 survivors, both are said to be crew of the airline. There are still remaining 28 bodies waiting to be found. Authorities are still on the scene of the crash with fears that the remaining 28 could be dead, thus making Jeju Air Flight 2216 to be the deadliest plane crash in South Korea's History since the 1997 Korean Air Flight 801 crashed killing 229 onboard. The crashed happened on the worst times when S. Korea was recovering from a Political Dispute and comes days after Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 crashed due to a supposed Shot Down by the Russians. airport authorities would usually spray a coating of fire suppression foam to the runway back in the 80s and even the early 90s; it's like a fire extinguisher, but on a larger scale. so surprised that the South Koreans did not employ it in this instance, it could have minimized the friction caused by the metal-to-pavement contact, which supports the fuel tank of the aircraft, i mean the metal touching the pavement is like the covering to the aircraft's fuel tank.

It appears the thrust reversers are deployed. Would this have been done knowing that the engines were non-functional after a bird strike? If they were still producing thrust then why no flaps, spoilers or landing gear? Captain Sullenberger please weigh in on this crash. After doing a very rough calculation of the time it took for the plane to travel its length (180FT) I came up with an impact speed of around 147 mph. If this plane touched down at the recommended speed of 180 mph airspeed it should not have had this velocity after even 1000 ft of travel. It raises so many questions.
