I subscribed. Absolutely amazing. Nobody has touched on this with this depth and explained it in a completely new way. This was truly helpful for me. You deserve many many more subs. Great job!

Great videos! I just watched them all. I have decided to get a shapeoko cnc and know nothing about them so while waiting for the savings to build I have started to research more details of how to use one and found your videos. They have made a lot of sense and taken some of the daunting feeling of running in blind to get started.

This is an incredible explanation. I found a video breaking down this operation with math quite awhile ago. Boy did it help. Of course carbide create now has advanced vcarve but I find doing this the old fashioned way with offsets works better for me. Nicely done

Fantastic, just got my longmill and have been struggling with v carving, love maths and don’t know why I didn’t apply the obvious. You’ve totally unscrambled my heed, so thank you very very much. I’ll subscribe as soon as I get on my desktop. Thanks again.

Brought back memories of my Navy Electronics school training for Sine, Cosign, and Tangent. Our crib was Oscar Had A Hairy Old Ass ! That was nearly 50 years ago! Great Video, Thanks

This has been so great to watch. And very helpful, wouldn't it be nice if you contacted the creators of Carbide create. and ask them to implement your calculator into there software.

Thank you for this math quiz, I thought my school days were gone forever. All kidding aside I appreciate your thoughts and explanations for this task. I'm just new to CNC-ing and heard term "Flat bottom VCarving a few weeks ago and didn't have a CLUUUE what the heck they were talking about, ahhh you provided the answer, though not real easy to understand in theory, I do have the picture now in my head. I will check out your web page that you linked and I will rewatch this one a few times until I can wrap y little brain around it, its just simply to late in the day for me think and coffee isn't a good option at the moment. By the way its the XXL Shapeoko I have, so I am using the C-Create. Thanks again, great lesson! : ) Andrew Actually I just checked out your calculator at your web page... that is just awesome Dude !

It's not a simple technique to do by hand but it is possible. Vectric's products do admittedly make this as simple as turning on an option so if you want ease of use that's something to consider. I just try to show people that more can be done in carbide create than people think.

do you ever do your calculation in metric, this would be so good and help so many people

Could you do the same type of video because you seem to get this teaching thing you explain things at a speed and using language that most of us who are not experts in this field can understand the Winston guy is great if you already know what it’s talking about! I have a project I need to do where I have a photograph and I need to take that photograph and I need to carve it into a piece of wood with my XXL now I’m told that you can do this with ink scape? however never having used it and not really being computer savy😍 I’m still having difficulty getting the picture from my iPhone to my windows run computer where the ink scape program lives! YOU DO A FANTASTIC JOB TEACHING❤️ 🇺🇸 thank you very much!!

I am learning all I can before my 1st purchase and I love your videos. QUESTION: In your example with the T does the depth of the cut change as the bit goes into the more narrow areas of the letter T. For example on the upper part of the letter verses the wide vertical. Thank you for your time. I finally know why it was good to learn little trig.

Yes that's exactly how vcarving works! Essentially a vbit varies the diameter of the cutter by adjusting it's Z position

Very cool video. Love the calculator. Next question is, do we just set a separate toolpath as the final step and make it .002 for a finishing pass?

I have a video coming up soon on doing finishing passes in CC including revisiting the topic of this video to show how you can do it for vcarves also.
