Very incomplete comparison. Many missed points (Especially regards to turret punch) as below: - Operating cost of Turret punch is much lesser compared to Fiber Laser machine - Breakdown cost of Turret punch is also very less (comparing costs of Laser source vs mechanical parts of Turret punch) - for thin sheet metal fabrication, Turret punch still beats Fiber Laser machine in all aspects. - You can do marking on both sides of sheet on Turret punch (for up/down bend lines) - On turret punch, you can do forming operations (Louvers, small bends, embossing) using forming dies/punches. - You can also do tapping operation using special setup on Turret punches. - Majority of issues in Turret punch are mechanical which can be fixed individually. Yes, most of above points are related to thin sheet metal (up to 3mm) but still are need to be mentioned. Fiber is great, no doubt but for thin sheets, Turret beats fiber in all aspects. Especially cost wise. Laser costs 2/3 fold operating cost. You literally only need electricity & compressed air to use Turret punch after tooling.

I work with thin sheet metal and i must say for faster production and accuracy turret is best option. If we compare operational cost of laser and turret machine keeping in mind Nozzel and lens for fiber laser and punch & die for turret, Laser has less operational cost. more precaution is needed while operation fiber laser as compared to turret. When you have odd cut out on sheet or a pattern, fiber laser is a better option. Also, if we compare cost of machines, a good turret like amada, trumpf or euromac may cost more than fiber laser as fiber laser are now made very cheap compared to turret

@@R1zla212 You are forgetting the operating cost for O2 or N2 if you want a better surface finish. For die/punch its more of investment and not the operating cost. You are basically using air & electricity for turret. As far as I have seen & talked with Laser sales guys when we were deciding on a new machine, every one told us to go for turret. Also the lens, ceramic have exceptionally low life per operation time than even a 2nd market die punch. Unless you go for a Chinese brand for laser, laser machines from Prima, Trumpf, Amada cost a fortune as well. While a 2nd hand turret would come at much more economical rate. Sometimes even less than Chinese Laser. Not to forget if you run the machine a lot, companies go through fiber line / source issues every 3-4 years which costs So much. There are also other operational costs of running air conditioning etc for laser source, batteries. Unless you are dealing with only irregular shapes, for thin sheet metal, it makes very little sense to go for laser unless you are future proofing yourself for higher thinkness or irregular shapes.

@@OmkarNI have both the Amada turret EM5210 and the SLTL Prime 1.5kW Laser machine. Our observations show that the O2 cylinder costs us 130rs, running for 1 and a half days for 12 hours each day, totaling approximately 2350rs. The nozzle and lens each cost around 800-1000rs, and we change them weekly, regardless of damage, resulting in a total of around 8000rs. Other maintenance costs such as oil, grease, lens cleaning chemicals, etc. amount to 1-2k per month, totaling around 13k per month. On the other hand, the investment you mentioned is actually a significant operational cost for the turret. We often have to change the punch and die more than 3-4 times a month. A small-sized original punch and die (e.g. 6mm round punch) for the turret costs us around 30k, totaling around 1.2lac per month. I won't even mention the scrap related to the turret compared to fiber laser, as we are all aware of that situation. In conclusion, the turret is fast and accurate for similar jobs and products with regular shapes and sizes but has high operational and acquisition costs. On the other hand, the fiber laser is cost-effective with low operational costs.

@@R1zla212 ₹30k for a 6mm round punch? What? Where are you purchasing these from? Are you using inserts or not? 1 insert of 6mm diameter costs us like around ₹2k. We don’t buy from Amada directly but our supplier has good quality tools which last for years. Ofcourse we use surface grinder to sharpen them as needed. Are you grinding them and using them? you are changing a turret punch 6mm round 2/3 times in a month? We haven’t purchased a new punch since like 1.5 years at least if I remember correctly. Granted we use TPP ranging from 2-5 hours daily so its not 24x7. Either we are having some huge miscommunication & we are referring to something else entirely, the calculation is way off. We have been using Amada Vipros 2510C since 10+ years. Only once we have paid ₹35k for a single punch & die which is for louvers. Everything else pertaining to A & B station inserts/die cost way too less. Edit: how is report for SLTL Laser? We were considering it however we later changed our mind altogether since we are mainly in panel building only so we stuck to tpp.

@@OmkarNWe exclusively purchase authentic tools, and while tools do not break every month, they do tend to break after 2-3 months of use. We once experienced a situation where the tools were damaged multiple times within a single month. Interestingly, I had a strong intuition that you are also a panel builder XD. In regards to SLTL Laser, I would recommend buying their machine. The service they provide is grate. As panel builders, a 1.5kW Laser is more than sufficient for our needs. However, when purchasing their machine, do engage in extensive negotiation. Request for more number of lenses and nozzles, and it is unnecessary to invest in their machine top cover for a 1.5kW machine.

No gas, no lenses, no nozzles, less electrical consumption, special tools for more applications, if I don't need complex cuts there is nothing better than a turret punching machine.

If you don't have punching machine info, please don't try to make any comparison on it Punching machine working only with 4kW power and tooling cost is very less, tool life is arrount 25 lakh hits and also can punch max 8mm material
