AllTheGearNoIdea - NOT DEAD Great to see another video Chris. Not just a video mind you, great to see you again, doing what you do impeccably well - genuinely heavy on content and information, but presented really well, making it effortless to understand for an old duffer like me. I learned lots of somethings I never realised I could.

Great video, Chris! I had wondered if a laser engraver could be used that way as I still like to "roll my own" PCBs. To use fiberglass boards maybe you could use a similar process for the labeling, a coating that is etched away without burning the resin. Looking forward to part 2. Regards, David

Yes you can do a paint mask label I have seen a guy do it on another video. The resolution of my laser is only just good enough around 250DPI. I don’t think the laser method is any easier than using a photographic mask or toner transfer. But I just had to give it a go. I still fancy trying to mill a PCB.

Hi Chris, another great video full of annotation and detail. As an apprentice I was instructed to insert the smallest components first, good to see this knowlege passed on to viewers. Regarding cutting component legs, I was instucted to cut the excess legs before soldering. The idea behind this was to reduce stress on the solder joint. If the side cutters blades contact the pcb as you cut the leg, it tends to lever the leg upwards as you cut stressing the joint. I noticed you used a former to bend the legs of a diode, I've not seen one of these before. I have been making copmonent formers out of cuts of wood. Where did you find yours? Regards Peter

Trade skills like ours are not really a thing that is taught anymore. But then again hand building isnt really a thing either unfortinately. I also remember getting a clip around the ear for not holding the cut end of a component leg to stop it getting lost and shorting stuff out later. The component lead bender was 3D printed ut sent to me by one of the channel supporters "Steve I think" At one time you could buy these from radio shack etc.

Nice project, I think it needs a display to show you the metering and timings so you can tune it as required and maybe even have some presets

It wouldn’t be difficult adding a display given all the hard work driving it has been done in advance by the Arduino followers. Maybe someone could add a display but I don’t think the readout would add much. It’s more an in process adjustment due to the range of variables.

Well, hello Chris Me and the missus have not been in touch for a while. Mostly because other youtube channels are boring and full of arseholes blowing their own horns etc (present company not included). Next year, we're thinking of shoving it up further..... the c.b. aerial that is. But, can't be arsed to do it meself. I'll get the other half to do it, while I go down the pub and sink 5 pints of Bodingtons Best Bitter! Lol!!! Warmest Regards Wayne (from Wayne & Nina) 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😃😃😃😃😃
