I know its time-consuming to both design & build as well as record & edit but we need more content. I watch your videos as inspiration and motivation in my fledgling cnc business. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Thanks! It means a lot to me to hear from people like this. I'm working on more content..it'll just take some time!

Learning about the CNC in my tool residency now, I hope to make some spoons like this...maybe minus the inlay to start! Thanks for sharing :)
@CorbinDunn9 ай бұрын
Awesome! Yeah, the spoon itself isn't too hard to machine. They are much harder to design than actually make.

Got files, made a great small gift, thanks ! Would be REALLY great to have a video tutorial how to make inlays on curved surfaces - with better explanation of a designing process in Vectric
@CorbinDunn Жыл бұрын
Awesome! YES! Thanks for asking - I've been thinking about making a video on how to do curved inlays with VCarve. I'll add it to my list of things to get to.

I am new to cnc, but I use Carveco Maker for design and a FoxAlien 4040XE for actual cnc work. I would like to know if the cnc files you offer will work in my situation? They look great!!
@CorbinDunn4 ай бұрын
What program are you using for CAM? The toolpaths and CAM is setup in Vectric VCarve, but I also include the STL file so you can do the toolpaths in whatever software you prefer, however, the inlay won't be possible as it is a vector stored in VCarve. Pretty much any CNC should be able to machine this; it isn't too big.

Nice! I wish this was available for Fusion 360.
@CorbinDunnАй бұрын
Yeah! I do include the STL file in the download, but you'd have to do all the toolpaths/CAM yourself. And the engraving wouldn't be possible, as I used VCarve to do that part. I think I can do it in Fusion...and the next time I do one like this I'll probably do it there. VCarve has "issues" with its toolpath generation due to the way VCarve handles STL models.

@@CorbinDunn That's good to know, I'm definitely interested in the spatula if you do one in fusion. Thanks for the reply!

@CorbinDunn What made you use your Tormach instead of your Avid?
@CorbinDunn11 ай бұрын
Only because it was my only machine at the time! I started with the Tormach a few years ago as my first CNC machine. Once I realized I was doing more wood than metal I decided to get a dedicated wood CNC and got the Avid. I also had a year off from woodworking while I built the shop.

@@CorbinDunn Thanks for your prompt response. I've watched several of your videos and your squaring / tramming videos helped me immensely with my Avid.

Fusion version ?
@CorbinDunn14 күн бұрын
Fusion isn't so great at v-carves; Vectric VCarve is just so much better at them! That's the main reason I setup the project in Vectric rather than Fusion. Fusion can do VCarves..and I may try them in the future, but it does have limitations, but I might be able to figure out how to do creative work arounds for those issues.
@CorbinDunn14 күн бұрын
...but you can take the STL and import it into Fusion and do toolpaths there; I have a video on how to setup tabs, which isn't too hard. The VCarve inlay is the hard part, as it is not flat, but projected onto the doubly curved surface.

@@CorbinDunn Thanks, You know You inspire me a lot especially such projects : functional Utilities and Furniture that every home/office should have..! Rather than just hobby gadgets . One Of my first projects would be that "Mirror Panel " you did earlier with smooth curves.! Like I requested earlier, I am waiting for more "Fusion+CNC " Projects on- 1) Complex Fixture/Work-holding techniques for multi sided projects- More examples of "Window machining Methods" "SoftJaw Methods" , "Indexing Methods" for rotory type parts. Also Pls Refer and do a fusion version of this if possible : -kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6PIhJitatpohcU&ab_channel=DennisvanHoof
