Best performance in terms of sound engineering. Good job to the iheartradio team. Finally! They’re provided with good production. I don’t think people realise the subtlety in what Joel is doing here/what he does. Those grace notes and phrasing are beyond his years. It’s why it’s a good thing they’re venturing out of Reggaeton/pop. Reggaeton music-even with pop melodies-aren’t suitable for showcasing vocal ability. Joel has an incredible talent of taking a song and changing the arrangement of it so that it sounds completely different from the original (in a good way). I know it pisses off a lot of young girls, but there’s a reason why Rykeyz gave him 70% of Pretend. He’s a big-name producer who knows what he’s doing. P.S. I’m not young (I’m older than everyone commenting here) or a girl, so for me to be excited about his vocals means something.
