If you're interested in hiking this track and are confused by the amount of different campsites/huts you can book, we highly recommend checking out tramping.net.nz/huts-abel-tasman-coastal/. They provide a good description of the different areas you can stay and was valuable in planning our trip

Hi guys. A trick I learned in decades of tramping and photographing all of NZ's national parks was to carry a good umbrella. (Blunt is the best brand I've found.) It means you can wear your wet weather jacket unzipped, so you don't sweat and you actually stay dry. It makes tramping on a wet day much more pleasant and gives you shelter on a windy day. I've used mine crossing a desert in strong winds and doing storm photography.

We've thought about buying some hiking umbrellas in the past to be honest! Might have to give it a go sometime. Would definitely help with filming in the wet 😅

@@ChrisandDanya Yep. That's how I discovered it. Un-weather-sealed cameras with limited dynamic range meant, in order to get nice bush photos, I had to shoot on rainy days. Hence, I started carrying an umbrella in the bush - and then discovered that it was the ultimate wet weather tramping accessory. I went through a few umbrellas until I found Blunt. They handle the wind. And, hey... I thoroughly enjoy your work.

@BlackPete... Thanks Pete, we'll definitely give it a go next time we're expecting wet weather!

Hey guys, just to say how much I look forward to your videos, they really help me get through these gloomy British winter days (despite making me sick with envy that you guys have this on your doorstep and not 24hrs of flying away!) Keep it going, you're both awesome

A different vibe this week, closer to "civilization" but beautiful all the same. Yes, the rain makes the forest so lush. Wildlife so tame!

Once you get past Anchorage Bay, the main crowds seemed to die down quite a bit until you reached Totaranui. Didn't seem like there was much people at all in the northern part of the track

Dear Chris and Danya, and all of a sudden I was there again, roughly 16 years later... Your wonderful videos show the track(s) in a way like no other videos do. Your eye for beautiful detail, but at the same time keeping the atmosphere of every place in mind, is simply stunning. As has been said in a comment before, soothing and uplifting at the same time. You are great!

Able Tasman is quite unique in NZ with all the old settlements and development along the track, lodges and cafes etc. Beautifully captured as always. Your te reo Maori is good, not too many stumbles until now! It helps to remember most of the vowels are, usually, always the same. a ah e eh as in meh i ee o awe u oo Spaghetti covers most them and is the same!
@ChrisandDanya10 ай бұрын
Thank you for the lesson! Even after living there for 2 years, we still struggle with pronunciating the Maori words correctly 😬 Spaghetti actually helps a lot though 😅

If you want silent hiking videos with no talking at all, there's plenty of other creators out there for you to enjoy. That is not the style of videos we enjoy making, so please don't expect that from our channel.
