This is the first review where someone praises the Mercedes 7G-DCT not for its slow shifting algorithm but for it's smoothness instead. However, I have driven (not a CLA250, but a B250 with identical running gear) this drivetrain before and I didn't like the initial take-off of the DCT unit; there is a noticeable delay between the foot on accelerator & when you actually begin to move; I swear I can FEEL the clutch engagement in that process, which is not present on a actual automatic transmission (the 7G-Tronic) found in the RWD Mercedes.

$41k is cheap for a mercedes- but horrendously expensive for a compact car. I guess it depends on your viewpoint.

Lexus, will be a lot more reliable, and personally I like the interior a lot better, but some people think the new IS is ugly so that's personal preference for you, I think both cars look good

i want to drive one of these home right now! but the one thing i dislike is the screen being pop out instead of integrated in. it feels like the screen is something extra added on later.

Trust me, these floating screens are the next big thing in infotainment design. Just look at BMW, Mercedes, Audi and even Mazda with their very youthful Mazda 3
