"Michael Eric Dyson ranted against “cancel culture” during an appearance on The View where he was asked about flirty private messages he sent to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) following an explosive clash between the two on CNN.
Mace entered the messages from Dyson into the congressional record during a House Oversight hearing. In the messages, Dyson told Mace the pair “look good together,” but not to tell anybody. He also sent a kissy face emoji with this message. When Mace sent a laughing face emoji back, Dyson complimented Mace’s “gorgeousness.”"

I agree with most things you say but not this time. The lady specifically says I'll call her whatever I want. He then said your not racist but that doesn't mean what your saying isn't in a racist way. He also said that white people are ashamed of what they did in the past. Not that they are responsible for those prior actions. I feel your take is that of a white woman who doesn't nor should you know of the black life in this country. You know what the history book and videos tells you. I'm informed on what happened from my family members who lived through it. White people who are alive today had nothing to do with slavery but, they benefit from slavery to this day. The laws put in place not allow black people to have the same freedoms they had. Ana is getting difficult to watch whenever Cenk isn't on to push back. In the first video on this topic she admitted Nancy said it right on accident and purposefully corrected herself to say it wrong as the majority of Republicans started doing after she became the candidate. If it was good faith she would have said my mistake and said it correctly after it was mentioned. Nancy has a history of being like this as we. All sides logically point to intentional disrespect. On the one hand I agree that he needs to take ownership of his own actions, he clearly sent those messages and it's humiliating to have them thrown back in his face like that, so he's grabbing for the old playbook. Public figures always cry about cancel culture the second a sprinkle of heat hits their face, for the rest of us it's just called the consequences of our own actions. But my issue is Ana's dismissive attitude. I've never seen her like this before, it's almost jarring. While a lot of people have used two pronunciations for Kamala Harris, Republicans have been purposely behaving as if her name is the most difficult thing to get around, as one of their tactics to attack her, and Mace clearly said she would pronounce her name however she felt. That sort of entitlement does have racist history in this country. Whether Mace or Ana are aware of it is one thing, but black people will inform you quite swiftly on why her making the _choice_ in the moment to mispronounce her name, proudly when corrected, was a racist act. The problem was Mace's entitlement, Ana.

I don't get the willingness to give a pass at the mispronunciation of the VP's name. It is one thing to make a mistake, yet---you talk about implied-- the statement: "I will say the Vice President's name any way I want" suggests that it wasn't innocent, at minimum just rudely defiant.
