Racism is definitely taught by parents. When I was in grade school, back in the seventies, I asked my mom if she could give my friend a ride home and she said yes. When I went and got my friend and brought her to the car I could see a weird look on my mom's face. After she dropped the friend home and we went home my mom screamed at me and beat me because I didn't tell her my friend was black. I refused to adopt my parents racism and my friends accepted me and told me I was black like them because of the way I behaved. I kind of pissed off my parents more by marrying a non-white person and had four bi-racial children. I don't see people's skin color only their actions.

I had a wonderful friendship with a girl in my high school and we had so much fun hanging out at school. One afternoon, I asked her could we possible hang out over the weekend or maybe go to the mall. She replied..."Our friendship must remain only at school; my mom is a blatant racist and she would kill me if she even saw us hanging out together on campus." It stung me so hard. It hurt so badly. I then realized that was why after school she would practically run off to "find her mom" when we were all outdoors. I'm black; she's white. Interesting thing is...many years later, we reconnected on FB and I discovered that when she went off to college, she never went back home to her parents; she learned just how "awful" they were when we got away from them. She married and has a lovely family and she and I are very much great friends again. Her parents, come to find out, were brainwashing her with all kinds of garbage and when she attended college and met other people, they opened her eyes at just how horrible her parents are.

vibster2005 I have to disagree. I think teenagers look at what's presented to them on social media and resent themselves for not looking the way they want to. They then unleash their insecurities by lashing out at peers causing more people to have insecurities feeding this hateful cycle. That's just my, and a few friends of mine, experience. I'm also not saying adults can't teach teens and/or children hate, but it's not very common. Then again, this could just be my neighborhood.

@@jakedelhinski3849 i get u but the reason black people are always saying they are proud to be black is because there's alot of opression that comes with being black, throughout history even today,so me saying im proud to be black is not me saying im proud to have black skin,it's more about me being proud of having the ability to withstand the negative impacts that come with this identity. It's something most white people cant relate to or understand because they get to live under the prefered skin tone. Black pride is more of a cultural issue rather than a skin tone issue...the problem with most privileged people is that they expect black people to forget the past but it's hard to forget when the negative impacts of that very same past keep following you everywhere you go,black people are who they are because of the horrible things racist white people did in the past,it's hard to forget when u know the history that led to your not so pleasent present...if only u could put yourself in the shoes of most black people then you would understand Us expressing our black pride is simply us reminding ourselves that we are worth it in a world that keeps telling us that we are less just because of how we look. It's healthy to love yourself and to be proud of who you are and if u find anything wrong with some1 expressing self love then maybe you are just insecure about yourself?

I was trying to formulate and put together a response to this that would give people a deeper insight into what it means and how it feels to be Black in America, in particular. You told it exactly like it is. If only people would listen and try to understand the reality of Black life. Yes, they tell us to get over the past (mainly because they themselves don't want to deal with it), while at the same time minimizing and or denying the Trauma that we face everyday from police brutality, the frustration from the undermining of our contributions in the workplace, the little micro-aggressions in stores and other public places, the criminalization of damn near everything we do so they can falsely pontificate about Black crime--inflating those statistics and discarding the truth about how these actually break down. These things are not relics of the past that we should forget about and "move on." These are daily occurrences that we can't get away from and we try not to internalize. The assaults on our mental and physical well- being can be As that simple self-satisfied smirk when they know that they have hurt you, to that devastating police shooting when you die. Our technology is. But humans are flawed and will be forever flawed. We are nothing more than intelligent animals. Just look at the Middle East. They are still in the middle ages. But it's 2017 according to your calendar, right? So why do they still kill people for apostasy, for being gay? Why do they get punished for being atheists? Why are women still oppressed over there? @keaultra7 жыл бұрын
the picture could also implies that a student fell and the other is walking to the direction to help. or maybe one kid accidentally dropped all his belongings in front of someone who just so happen to be right there. it could also be seen as two friends who were talking and one of the friends dropped their things and insisted that he didnt need help getting things together. it depends on how you perceive it which is the point of the picture, there are many reasons why the kid is on the floor, but if your first inference is that they arent friends then that's just what you'd think of the situation. if a child still thinks they're friends then then its just as valid as anyone else's view, it's what you make of it

I just wish all of this racism would just go away, we all deserve to be treated equally. Our skin is just like a mask , it does not matter our skin does not change who are. That doesn't mean to just forget about your ethnic background it just means to not judge anyone by there beautiful skin. I just don't get how someone can be so negative about a race I mean come on, I have had a few difficulties with people calling out about my skin but I don't let their harsh words define what I believe is right. This is one of the very topics that divided the nation and it still is. I've always been told to not judge others by their appearance but instead to love them for what you seem inside of them. Plus I've learned so much from having so many friends with different ethnic backgrounds I mean I love to learn about different traditions they do. Which why I dislike it when people say interracial couples are bad , my OWN PARENTS are an interracial couple with black and white and I'm so proud of that. I will forever love my parents for teaching me so many important topics that are worth telling about.

Samee I'm pretty sure my parents are interracial but in an islander way if that makes sense? My older brother is white, my younger brother is black and my twin brother is black while I'm white and I was raised with basically no skin colour types of biases and hardly any race biases. My high school is really open to (though will say the junior end isn't much, basically 1 or 2 people that has a parent/s of colour per junior class) but they are very open with the LGBTQ community, we have refuges and people from all different races (and there's no judgement about culture or religion) we learn in class about social biases and how to recognise and stop them. (Schools not fully there because there are still students that discriminate against race) Out of school not many people I've seen or heard discriminate because of skin colour. I do feel like if certain things changed and people stopped talking about other races badly things might get a little better.
