I normally work from home and don't really go out much so this whole shelter in place isn't really bothering me that much. The 4.6 % hospitalization rate is falling rapidly with the new treatment strategies. 80% chance absolutely nothing will happen , not even a fever . Individual families will have to make these assessments on a case by case basis. I don't think keeping people from living their life as they see fit is something I would be comfortable with .

hi from Italy; as you know we've been under a rather strict lockdown for the longest time, because of very significant community spread. It's not necessarily going on forever. It took about two months to see an appreciable decrease. Currently, there's a lot of talk around the fact that until we were in the same conditions (strict lockdown) in most recent days we saw an "odd" behavior, where the gravity and complications per-patient seemed to greatly reduce. As if the virus is finally mutating in a even more infectuous but less lethal version of itself (as someone speculated it could, but oddly way too quickly). We don't know if it's actually true of just bad measurements, thus we have to be on the safer, more careful side, and think it's probably the latter. Even if it were the first it would be great news, but if we reopened the borders, the worse version would come in rather quickly. We are now slowly reopening things, very carefully. It will probably spike again and again, and could be forced do put out other limitations. Throttling away the fuel to the virus, that is... us. But one thing is for sure: for this and for the exponential progression, locking down early is vastly more effective than locking down later. If the virus doesn't weaken, we have to do the "dance" and open-close-open-close etc to chop down the rate. If it does weaken, the battle that worths more is now, not later: the lives that can be saved can be saved only now.
